Just heard on NBC news.
Apparently the pilot ejected and no reported injuries on the ground.

Pray this is true.

Probably Marine? Does it fly for any of the other services?

Democrats call for end to the military occupation of Yuma. They are not a threat to us. sarcasm. Hope everyone survived. My nephew is Air Force in Japan 3 years and counting.

How about British ... they still fly them, and are sometimes in this country. I don't know about anybody else.

A caller to our radio station (WLS in Chicago--with him listening via the Internet) just said it crashed just outside of the city in a field near a Super Wal-mart.

I flew into Yuma last year in my Lancair. It's a split Marine/civilian airfield.

Kinda neat having F-18's hold short for you.

They had 3 or 4 other Lancairs out there.

Hope the guy's OK. Punching out can hurt all on it's own.

The civilian side used to be (maybe still is) owned by McDonnel Douglas where we used to do all of our flight testing. I still ahve some awesome pictures of some of the foreign military jets that would arrive there for war game training.

The was also a time where one of the Harriers malfunctioned and the pilot ejected. The plane was in configuration to lift/hover and rather than crash, it kind of skitted over the ground towards our test facility. It ended up crashing into a fence where it eitehr ran out of fuel, totally broke down or the engines just up and quit.
