Federal agents made the first arrests Wednesday in Newsday's yearlong circulation scandal, charging that three former officials at Newsday and its sister publication Hoy were involved in schemes to inflate the publications' circulations, costing advertisers millions of dollars.

Investigators detailed some of the methods used to inflate the number of copies reported sold, including dumping papers, arranging for phony sales by street hawkers to fool auditors and coaching distribution agents to lie to auditors.

Though this is pretty blantant, I imagine plenty of other papers are inflating circ numbers as they scramble to keep advertisers. Will others follow, I wonder?

Newsday is an ultra-liberal sc*mbag newspaper that acts as a press release PR vehicle for the worst of the democrat party.

And of course the management at Newsday are utter crooks.

The LA Times was doing the same thing, but I believe nothing came of it.

Newsday acted as Hillary official campaign newsletter in her first run for office. The adoring press that they gave her was despicable. I'm sure that a few arrests will not slow them down.

In my small town, the liberal paper is delivered every Wednesday, whether you want it or not. I once allowed 10 to pile up on my doorstep, hoping they would get the message to stop. It didn't work, so I'm now throwing them in a box, I must have 30 or so. I plan to deliver them back to the publishers yard one night.

The St. Petersburg Times used to arrive on my doorstep every morning for about a month. It never even made it into the house as I would pick it up and deliver it to the nearest garbage can. I called and told them that I was not interested in receiving the Times, but they delivered it anyway. I often wondered if the copy delivered free to me, and probably many others, were counted as part of their circulation.

Ah yes....

The magically appearing papers. Just think of them as tokens of your local newspapers affections.

Not!

Hey Mr. Ad man! Look at our deliveries! They are way up this quarter!
