`Nazi' comment disgraceful

By Boston Herald editorial staff

Friday, June 17, 2005

The second highest ranking Democrat in the Senate has compared American servicemen and women to Nazis on the floor of that body. Has political debate sunk so low that a comment that hideous can be made by Sen. Richard Durbin (D-Ill.) without repercussions?

Sen. Trent Lott (R-Miss.) lost his leadership position for the lesser if still odious offense of praising Strom Thurmond's presidential campaign which had taken place decades earlier.

``If I read this ... and did not tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime - Pol Pot or others,'' Durbin said of Guantanamo ``abuses'' like ratcheting up the air conditioning in detainees' cells.

When Amnesty International makes such comparisons it irreversibly damages its credibility. When a U.S. senator does so, he damages the institution and the country he serves.

Durbin must go.

It's a particularly insidious form of Holocaust denial.

What was the Herald's headline?

Turban Durbin Gives Dirty Sermon, Now he's Squirmin like a Vermin.

Apologies, it's late and I don't have much to do

One must understand, that the persons of Japanese ancestry in HA love the Democrat Party. Those in the three west coast streets plus Alaska, of course hate the Demos.
Goes back to what Machiavelli said about killing an ancestor vs. taking the family wealth. And it is not my intention to bash/degrad/or minimize Inouye's suffering.

Sending this solution around to a few people I know who might make use of it.

Never knew General Kennedy's COOS program could be used for rehabilitation of terrorists.

I used to like Stewart when he was an equal-opportunity political comic. Even though he obviously sided to the left, he didn't leave leftie causes and politicians unscathed.

Now he's just another Bill Maher.

It's funny that both Maher and Stewart are smart guys who put up weak and often superficial defenses for their cause. Maher because the Rat party isn't left enough, Stewart because the Rat party defies common sense.

"I see much more of a threat here."

Combine this "comment" with the Newsweek fake article, and Ted Kennedy and the rest focusing on Abu Gharib and now Gitmo, and you've got sedition at the very least.... and IMHO- the democRATS are actively aiding our enemies- they have given Al-Queda made- to-order recruitment ads- This has to be stirring up the hornets nest of jihadi's into attacking our soldiers. People have already been killed because of this BS.

But, it's just too much to ask the pansy Republicans to do anything about it. They want to go to their parties and be liked by the the dems. Protecting our soldiers by putting a stop to this threat, is not a priority.

The very least they could do is call the public's attention to it, and not sugar coat/down play the effects of providing propaganda for Al Queda. This is exactly why no one should ever vote democrat.

If this idiot had done this in WWII , the public would have lit the torches and chased him out of the building.

if I read you the kind of comments Durbin made and I didn't tell you who said it or when, you might think it came from Benedict Arnold, Tokyo Rose, Axis Sally, Quisling, or some other traitor

Very good point.

"On a more serious (and very disturbing) note Durbin's screed was reported on Al Jazeera. That's clearly a betrayal of America's national interests."

This is where the offense really hits home. The fool is aiding and abetting our enemies. I hear the Tommy Daschle trash removal crew coming to Dick Durban's hometown next election.
And I'll gladly put my money where my mouth is once again!

We should send Durbin some choice clips from the Saddam Hussein torture videos, where people are held down and dismembered, or have the soles of their feet whipped while writhing in pain, to help clarify for him what "torture" really is.

How come hillereeee didn't comment on durbin and his hateful, twisted, venmom spewing mouth? Isn't she a member of the Armed Forces Committee? Shouldn't she have said something pro or con? Or was she told to keep quiet by Warner? How come she never comes out on these kinds of issuses but stays hidden in the background? THAT my friends is why she will never be President. She can never make a stand unless of course it is on something SHE can benefit from.
