South Carolina Democrats will be holding their breath next week when their embattled national chairman arrives in town to have a few beers with the grass-roots and raise money for the state party.
Please, Howard Dean, dont say anything that will embarrass us or subject us to ridicule, the party faithful pray.
Dean still is smarting from his remark that Republicans are pretty much a white Christian party. Several congressional Democrats have called him on the carpet and ordered him to halt his divisive comments.
A handful of S.C. Democratic leaders tried to downplay a series of controversial remarks made by Dean since he wrapped up the race for party chairman earlier this year.
State Rep. Gilda Cobb-Hunter, D-Orangeburg, a member of the Democratic National Committee, wishes Dean would temper his comments a bit. But she doesnt want to put a muzzle on him.
Weve got too many tired old wimps in the party, she says. Dean is doing a great job. I have not seen one comment he has made that is not true.
Including the one about the white, Christian GOP?
I associate myself 100 percent with his comments, Cobb-Hunter says.
Dean has provoked controversy with a myriad of comments:
...snip...
Political experts are somewhat puzzled by the timing of Deans visit.
Its the kiss of death, says Atlanta-based political consultant Claibourne Darden. There seems to be a suicidal streak in the South Carolina Democratic Party.
With the most recent controversy still fresh in the minds of folks, Dean couldnt be coming to South Carolina at a worse time, says Larry Sabato, a political scientist at the University of Virginia.
If I were in South Carolina, Id have him visit under the cover of night, he says.

But the writer of this story wants the reader to think that Dean is an underling when he is not.
The second point is local Democrats love Dean. It is the local Democrats in every state that elected the members of the DNC. There are 477 members and they totally approve of what Dean has said and done.
I doubt if Dean shuts up. You can bet that the local Democrats who come the hear dean are dying to hear him make accustations against republicans.
Dean has said that he hates all Republicans. Dean has said Republicans are all White Christians. When asked if he hated White Christains Dean got angry.

The Dems remind me of the horrid photos of the Jim Jones Kool-Aid massacre...talk about blind, ignorant, stupid "faith"...how could human minds become so degenerated??
The irony of all this of course is, the way in which the Democrat's won the South Carolina governor's office in 1998.
More than ironic, now looking back, just plain pitiful.
I still hold a suspicion...underlying all of this "radical liberal rant and extremism"...is a plan to make Hitlery look good (oxymoron, I know). When you are desperate and criminal, anything goes.
How best to make something really evil and ugly, look good? By putting that evil person in the middle of EVEN MORE RADICAL EVIL and then have them talk it down, appear to be above it, degrade it, lie about it, say it no longer has a place, etc, etc...all the time, trying to use RELATIVISM to paint a totally false and deceptive picture of the "saviour" candidate....
At this point, with the radical leftist dems, I would expect to see ANYTHING and EVERYTHING, equal in distaste and disgust to the death throes of a dying, rabid dog...
Add me to the ping list. Remove me from the ping list.
Anybody have more specific info like where and when? The article said nothing about this.
If any of y'all are interested in FReeping Dean, drop me a FReepmail.
If I were in South Carolina, Id have him visit under the cover of night, he says.
LOL
Anybody up for a FReep? Let me know.
One question for South Carolinians,
Now, don't get me wrong, I think Riley saved Charleston from becoming, well, New Orleans (or worse yet, Jackson)
But at the same time, he is a liberal, and what I find problematic is, there seem to be more of them than ever coming to Charleston County. Out of 133,000 votes, Kerry only lost to Bush in the county by 7,000 votes, and from what I understand, Tennenbaum actually won the county by a narrow margin. This being the same county that said "Hell No" to Sanders, who if I remember right, actually lived there.
I know there are Conservatives with money in that damn state (if overpricing is the problem) and so my question is, why are ya'll just giving up Charleston without a fight, for years this epitome of everything that is well, grand, about the South has been a Republican bastion, and yet recently, it has seen fit to trend more and more Democratic, and the liberal side of the Democratic at that.
I just want to know, once again, why more of a fight is not being put up to keep a hold of Charleston, you know, Columbia has already been lost (I never liked Columbia though), don't let the same happen to Charleston.
Very interesting. No media. Dean must be making the party very nervous
Dollars to donuts someone will record the event and see he says something worth selling.
". . . the party faithful pray."
I thought demon-crat socialist hate Christians, especially white christians!

"fury from the sky"
I'm at a total loss on this man. The Dems are losing minorities left and right to the more conservative groups. I can't understand blatant stupidty.
A FReep maybe?
Just put that on a post to Peach.
Here's an idea: How about Freepers start a Howard Dean Travel Fund to pay him to visit states with key races next year. Keep him in the spotlight! If I were a conspiracy buff, I'd swear that Dean was on Karl Rove's payroll.
Hi, Dixie. Hope you've been well since we've met.
Upchuck was thinking about a freep too, I think.
I hadn't paid that much attention to Charleston and Charleston County but you do bring up some interesting questions considering all of the military in the area.
I saw that. Yes, doing better. How was the Masters?
We left town but everything went alright in our absence. Glad you're feeling better. Next time you're coming to town, let us know and we'll have dinner here again.
I might get some folks to attend on Wednesday, keep me in touch, I will let you know what we can do.
