AHOSKIE, North Carolina (AP) -- Two employees of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals have been charged with animal cruelty after dumping dead dogs and cats in a shopping center garbage bin, police said. Investigators staked out the bin after discovering that dead animals had been dumped there every Wednesday for the past four weeks, Ahoskie police said in a prepared statement Thursday. PETA has scheduled a news conference for Friday in Norfolk, Virginia, where the group is based. Police found 18 dead animals in the bin and 13 more in a van registered to PETA. The animals were from animal shelters in Northampton and Bertie counties, police said. The two were picking up animals to be brought back to PETA headquarters for euthanization, PETA president Ingrid Newkirk said Thursday. Neither police nor PETA offered any theory on why the animals might have been dumped. Police charged Andrew Benjamin Cook, 24, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Adria Joy Hinkle, 27, of Norfolk, Virginia, each with 31 felony counts of animal cruelty and eight misdemeanor counts of illegal disposal of dead animals. They were released on bond and an initial court date was set for Friday. Hinkle has been suspended, but Cook continues to work PETA, Newkirk said. Newkirk said she doubted Hinkle had ever been cruel to an animal and said if the animals were placed in the bin, "We will be appalled."

Notice that they fired the guy, but kept the girl. "They will be apalled" at damn near anything except their own conceited actions.
NC Ping!
PETA just made my permanent Sh*t list!
Two words: Poetic Justice
Where ya been?
We've already "pung" this story twice. :)

Two PETA Employees Arrested on Animal Cruelty Charges in N.C.

PETA - an old Indian word meaning "bad hunter".
I just saw interviews on Fox News with two of the PETA representatives. Both were defending the practice of killing animals rather than letting them be people's pets. These PETA nuts are downright dangerous.
They are killing animals to prevent them from being pets? To hell with those PETA kooks!
We were watching that interview as well - Neil Cavuto was not cutting them too much slack.
Okay!
Now we need some real reporter to report that Peta was making money on killing these innocent critters and then dumping their bodies like trash.
I saw that too, on Neal Cavuto's show. He asked how PETA could be so sure that the animals they euthanized were killed in a "kind" way, and the woman just said, "I know these people, blah blah blah..."
Neal then asked her why she wanted KFC chicken slaughterers fired, but wouldn't fire the people who killed the shelter animals...no answer. He then asked her if PETA personnel were honest with shelter employees, when they took animals away and slaughtered them. No real answer, except "We're very careful not to make any promise blah blah blah."
PETA is a terrorist organization. They didn't bother to make sure the dead animals didn't spread any disease, either.
They "lovingly stroked and spoke" to the animals as they gave them their lethal injections. This was "the only love" some of these animals ever received.
Why do I think this is the same plan these monsters have for the rest of us?
Except we'll be excoriated rather than comforted.
IF the animals were placed in a bin they will all be 'apalled'?
IF?
Where would people find these dead animals? In bags on the street? That would be better? Or does she think that dead animals placed THEMSELVES in the dumpsters.
Bag these people-drugged but alive- and find a nice, filthy dumpster.
I even have a vision of dangerous animal species sharing the same habitat with suburban American and there won't be spit we can do about it.
I agree - PETA is a terrorist organization and should be treated as such.
