Lawyers for 2 in 'dirty bomb' terror case allege misconduct at jail (they claim Koran abuse)

MIAMI -- Attorneys for two terrorism suspects tied to an alleged al-Qaida dirty bomb suspect are asking for the dismissal of a federal indictment against them based on a jailer's mishandling of a Quran and intimidating jail cell searches that removed handwritten papers in Arabic.

The defense claims the seizures from the cells of Adhan Amin Hassoun and Kifah Wael Jayyousi in May and June amount to government misconduct and an unconstitutional intrusion on trial preparation.

With all the different analogies floating around about the Nazis, I've yet to hear this one:

During WWII, did we hold the combatants we captured on the battlefield until the war was over? Of course we did. Was anyone clamoring for us to give the POWs trials while Patton was still fighting his way across France into Germany? Were we supposed to send the captured combatants back to Germany and Japan while the war was still going on? Certainly not. Well, why should we be worrying about trials for any of the mutts being held in Gitmo until the war is over? As long as one car bomb is going off in Iraq or Afghanistan, their detention is fair game.

Many Germans, who were sent to the USA and Canada to be held, actually ended up staying here rather than return to Germany. Some very willingly, others by circumstances

Here in my town, which was used as a POW camp during the war, on Memorial Day I went to a ceremony at the local Military Cemetery. I noticed 15 graves with either Italian or German flags on them. Upon further inspection it was evident that these graves were those of POW's from WWII. Several of these had burial dates which were post WWII ranging from weeks to over a year (one was Dec. 1946) after the war was over. My guess is that these men were other two sick or wounded to return on their own and or possibly had nothing to return to.

Why aren't they at Gitmo?

Why do people at Gitmo have lawyers?

Why does anybody leave Gitmo alive?

USSC allowed during WWII that US citizen could be classified as "illegal combatant" and tried and executed.

I therefore say ship ALL terror suspects to Gitmo.

Here we go; Let the Games Begin....

This is what used to be called the scorched earth policy. It was followed by Clinton and his defense team in the impeachment process. They use every delay, contest everything, object to everything, and generally make the whole process a big pain in the butt and drag it out as long as possible. That is also exactly what the Democrats are doing in Congress. And we thought they went to law school to learn how to practice law. Nope, they went to learn how to defeat the system and circumvent the law.

Other examples:

Jailers also disrespectfully tossed Hassoun's Quran on his bunk and left 8,000 pages of trial papers in disarray, his attorney Kenneth Swartz said in motions filed Friday.

If a prisoner had 8,000 pages of anything in his cell he is obviously not being mistreated or denied anything. It seems that our jailers and guards must have a Phd in psychology and another in comparative religion, a course from Miss Manners, and another from Dale Carnegie.

Bring your own Koran, dunk it in large jar of piss (use rubber gloves provided - not to protect against the piss, but so you don't actually have to touch the book of hate) and toss it in the bonfire.

I assume you have never pissed on a fire. If you had you would know this would be almost unbearable for the participants. Piss does not burn pleasantly.

That WMD thing sounds serious and all, but first we shall make sure that there is no possible way the accused rights were violated mistakenly or not. I don't think a WMD case is going to be setting any major precedents outside the terrorism box, but it is definitely a tight balancing and I can see how we are being tested.

Were you, you would quickly change your mind. I get your intention, I just suggest that what looks good in theory doesn't always work out well in practice.
