I finally pulled them out of the terrarium and placed them in their area in the back yard. I churned up a large area and made it really inviting for the new arrivals. Fresh fertilizer, moist Earth, fingers still crossed.
The area. About 4' X 15'
Where the six (out of 16) survivors will be.
A close up of the biggest.
Thanks to Gabz for suggesting the peat pots. Them things are pretty cheap.
I have 16 more seeds in the tray again.

Update! (Friday, July 22nd, 2005)
Well, since my first batch fried in these 100+ degree temps in the last two weeks, I'm starting over again. I did, however, discover a whole bunch of nice little goodies that I should have used from the begining. I found this seed starting tray for less than twenty dollars:
and it holds 28 seedlings at a time. The tray is peat moss which I'll easily cut loose from the tray with scissors when the tobacco is ready for moving into a bigger area. The roots are really tiny!
Each of the 28 sections are about one inch square:
...And it has a plastic dome to cover the whole thing.
So, I'm starting all over again. BUT, we're thinking about moving into this nice house with a big garage where I can have the room to do the year-round thing.

If only I can find a way to grow Connecticut Shade, with Dominican for the filler indoors, this would be a worthwhile hobby.

Someone told me that nicotine is a natural insect repellant. Is this true? Yes. Many narcotic drugs, including nicotine and cocaine, are natural insect repellants. In fact, that's their chemical purpose in nature. The plants don't get "high" off them.

Got my seeds from coffinails.com,went through the starting in the house process, and currently have twebty seven very healthy plants growing down in the garden. Some are bigger around than dinner plates by now, and 8-10 inches tall.
I'm not doing it for any economic reasons, just to see if I can(don't wanna die before I try everything).
Does anyone have any info on the production of snuff? I'm talkin' about the type of snuff you put in your lip, not the snuff you sniff. Any info would be most appreciated.
