Being a Democrat always means, you never have to say you are sorry

Posted on 06/22/2005 5:31:56 AM PDT by ShelleyAa

Yesterday, Illinois Senator Dick Durban, number two ranking Democrat finally gave a Clintonian style bite-of-the-lower-lip apology, sort of. However, in reading his words, one must wonder just why such a slick lawyer type would have stated such ugly, hate-filled words in the first place. One must also be curious that such words stated days ago gave not one prominent Washingtonian Democrat issue to demand immediate apology and his removal of leadership position. Just what is it with Democrats that they feel actions and words should have no personal consequence, however much damage it does to our nation. What if his words and actions caused a lowering of morale to those in harms way, those willing to sacrifice all for the country they love. What possible reason should anyone have concern that his words brought comfort to the enemy, an aiding and abetting? Is that not part of the commonplace mentality of the Move-on.org crowd that prominently permeates the Democrat Party of today?

Let’s face it, Democrats really do not have to say they are sorry, or at least they do not have to own their words and truly mean it. Being from the left side of the political spectrum gives one a special sense of uniqueness. If a left-leaning newspaper gets the facts wrong concerning an invented Koran flushed down the toilet, causing lives to be lost, why should heads roll by those pushing the cant? If you shove forged letters concerning the President’s military record as authentic in hopes of changing historical outcome, taking one’s vote away, so be it. Perjury at the highest level if done by a left persuaded politician should never bring reprimand, rather a promotion of one's co-conspirator and chief wife.

Yes, now the McCains of the world can pat Dick Durban on the back and say, you did well. However, the real question why he stated the vulgarity in the first–place will be lost on most. Just what possible reason would an American of his position and education select the words he did, showing extreme loathing for America, history and military? One reason and one reason only, bashing our President, the administration and accomplishments far outweighs a need for decency. Why sincerely apologize for one's words and actions when bashing anything American, putting political party over country will do?

No apology that Durbin makes is sufficient. As an adult and a member of Congress what he said and implied is unforgivable. He is unfit to serve.

Maybe Achmed Durban will be given a pass by the Stone Age Press but America is punishing the Rats at the ballot box. We know they hate America and Our Troops.

I don't call what he said an apology. He can stand up there all day long and blab and cry and I won't believe a word of what he and any other of the empty suits in the senate say. The only way he can apologize to my satisfaction is resign.

The fact that a United States Senator could even think that, let alone voice it aloud, should give us all pause. Just what kind of people send someone like him to represent them?

I think the standard set during the trashing of Trent Lott would be an appropriate starting point for Senator Dustbin.

There's actually a difference between an apology and a lame, butt-saving obfuscation? Who'd a thunk it?

(The former would have been inadequate last week, and is impossible now. Censure him and retire him.)

This is the e-mail I sent to both of my senators in response to Durbin's "apology:"

Last night's "apology" by Senator Durbin where he said, "Some may believe that my remarks crossed the line. To them, I extend my heartfelt apologies." was completely sleazy, inadequate, and disingenuous. He seems to be "apologizing" because some people felt his "remarks crossed the line." That's not it at all. His vile remarks were part of a carefully prepared, false, and slanderous attack on the commander in chief and our courageous military in time of war. They give aid and comfort to the terrorist enemy. The only apology that would have worked would have been one that actually acknowledged the dead wrongness of the entire set of original remarks, apologized for them, and withdrew them.

As it stands this abominable excuse for a senator and a man is still smearing the commander in chief and the military and still deliberately giving aid and comfort to the enemy. His "apology" is just an incomprehensible mass of octopus ink into which he and the Democrats are retreating. Thus, I urge you as strongly as possible to bring expulsion proceedings against him. DON'T LET HIM GET AWAY WITH IT.

When in doubt, kill the people who elected him?
Well, his Al Queda bosses would probably love that.
And any and all random acts of violence committed in the name of punishing this traitor.
Under those conditions they win...which they are seriously committed.
Being led around by the nose by the Al Queda could get to be a habit.

Once again McCain issues a get-out-of-jail-free card. I don't know if it's the Keating Five or the "strange new respect" he's grown to love. There's got to be something for this POW/son of an Admiral to stick his thumb in the eyes of the military and the Republicans.

I regret "if"?

"If some" were offended?

I never intended to smear our troops?

I want to make sure MY Legacy is not tainted?

I will continue to speak out?

Yep...sounds like an apology.

They don't say they are sorry because they are well aware that everyone already knows what a sorry bunch they are.

From all I have read about McCain, he was a happy go lucky young man who was a bit of a screw-up and would have been just as happy doing as little as possible. He came from a military family and had no choice as to a profession. He hates his father, the admiral, for putting him in this position. He hates his country and the military for sending him to war. He hates the rest of us Americans for enjoying the good life while he sat in a prison camp, facing god knows what. He probably came back home with a strong resolve to "stick his thumb in the eye of America" every chance he got. Instead of confronting and getting past his demons, privately, he has decided to take his wrath out on his country again and again.

I used to feel sympathy for what he went through, but now I can't stand to see his face. He is a warped man and we will continue to pay a price for his actions until the republicans reel him in. He has become worse than the blacks who say you owe me. We don't owe him anymore. It's time for him to go away.

Dickie, you go about quoting Abe Lincoln, I think a quote from Alice In Wonderland is better for you:
`Now, I give you fair warning,' shouted the Queen, stamping on the ground as she spoke; `either you or your head must be off, and that in about half no time! Take your choice!'
Take your choice, Senator!
