A 23-year-old man faces murder charges after the body of a woman he had met online was discovered -- weeks after she had been brutally killed, the Denver District Attorney's Office said Thursday.A building maintenance worker who was following up on several complaints of a foul odor made the gruesome discovery inside a Denver apartment on May 10.
Kanane Herron, 37, had died from blunt force trauma to the head and had been left inside the apartment for nearly four weeks, the autopsy confirmed.
Herron had recently moved to Denver from Salt Lake City and met Jeremy Ellerton, who is from Colorado Springs, through an online chatroom, investigators said.
After corresponding for some time, the couple moved in together to an apartment in the 900 block of South Dexter Street in Denver. Herron hadn't been heard from since she disappeared on April 12. Her body was found inside the Dexter Street apartment nearly a month later.
Ellerton is charged with first-degree murder in connection with her death. Ellerton was arrested on June 21 and remains in custody. He is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court on Monday, June 27.
OMG!!!!
Yikes...
When will Match.com doa commercial about this story?
Never move in with Pissant.....no matter what he promises.
Nah - not match.com, but the new couples site - www.e-homicide.com
Yikes, this happened in my town recently too. Freaky.
Sorry - Gotta gives this a DARWIN Award. What moron takes up with an online suitor? Just when i think the world is running out of stupid people.....
So much for the FR love connection. LOL.
Yeah, that would be one of the matches that didn't work out. I don't think it will be featured in a commercial...
Check the age difference....older woman, younger man...she was probably desperate.
Why do people keep forgetting to get rid of the body? Do they think no one will notice the odor? Also anyone with a brain will not go victim shopping on line. The first thing the cops will look at is the victim's hard drive.
I think there are two FReepers who are dating. They met here. (I'm sure they're not the first, but they're the first I've heard of....)
I guess Ctrl+Alt+Delete didnt work.
That's awful. Those chat-rooms and online match services should really be more forceful in warning people to take things very slowly. I know people are going to be impulsive, but moving in with someone you barely know.... that's nuts.
Like women haven't ever been killed by men they met in a bar, at a party, at the gym, or at church?
For about a week.
There has also been Freeper weddings.
DarthSidius & ??? was a few years ago.
And if it is encrypted with PGP?
You're probably right, he doesn't look like he'd be Mr. Articulate, but he probably promised her the moon/stars and if she was really lonely... So sad.
Looking for love in all the wrong places.
