The only reason there's an Irish Republic today is WWI. The United States demanded it of UK and got it. Without WWI, the Brits would not have allowed independence.
Well, we disagree here. The IRA and Michael Collins, made the British suffer intensely. They destroyed their system of intelligence, executed Irish Traitors, and informants, and made holding Ireland a costly problem.
