Liberal Hate Speech: A Case Study

My show-business friend writes this evening:

This irrational and virulent hatred radiates from elected officials to all those who elected them. I saw a T-shirt in a Palm Springs shop that said, "So many right-wing Christians, so few lions." Hilarious, n'est-ce pas? Nothing funnier than religious believers being ripped to shreds by wild animals in front of cheering pagans.

I'm intrigued by the liberal furor over Karl Rove's remark about the difference in reactions to 9/11. As my old grandfather used to say, "You throw a stone into a pack of dogs and the one that barks the loudest is the one you hit."

Everything Rove said is absolutely true. I entertained at a 50th anniversary party for a well-known feminist leader about 10 days after 9/11. Much of the liberal elite of the Twin Cities was present. I was wearing a little flag pin that elicited considerable mockery. In a post-performance conversation with 3 prominent DFL activists, they all agreed that 1) America had it coming 2) much of the rest of the world cheered the attacks and that was not a bad thing; 3) the attack was purely a "criminal" matter that required the issuing of indictments, but surely not a war, and finally and most horrifically, a direct quote, "At least we got rid of Barbara Olson."

Like racists who feel free to use the "N" word among themselves, these people felt free to be so frank and unguarded because they absolutely assumed that I shared their worldview. I was so upset I couldn't even EAT, and anyone who knows me knows how serious THAT was. I told them I disagreed completely and left. That was the final straw launching me from my lifelong stint as a Democrat to the Republican party.

There are many enemies of America right here at home, and they're not all Muslims.

When the flick "Poltergeist 1" came out, the lost souls perfectly encapsulated "liberals" to me. They are trapped by their own ideology into another dimension, and they do not know that they have "passed on". They frighten, alarm, and upset people. They are only aware of themselves. In discourse with liberals, especially at end of very hostile discourse, they would just get so upset with me when I'd suggest they "go into the light". :>

Democrats should not apologize nor feel ashamed of anything they say. What Durbin said and what these DFL members said is exactly how most of them think. They should let it all hang out and then let the voting populace decide who should run the show.

The one thing that does bother me about the dems is when they pretend to care for the well being of any member of the US military. Again they should say exactly what they truly believe which is that they hate the military and that all its members are a bunch of losers whose last resort was to become cannon fodder.

To: MplsSteve; All

GOODMORNING,

In august of 2001 my eldest daughter became a freshman at alfred university. Before enrolling her i investigated it and found it clean, faculty cordial, foundationally started as a baptist university, good acadamic reputation and so on!
Then we went to the joint parent/student orientation and despite it was apparent some of the faculty where still stuck in the 60's i decided to let my daughter attend.

Some background,my children grew up in a conservative christian home, dad is former marine, mom is loving, artistic and musically talented.I grew up in a city neighborhood,so i made sure the family did not live in a combat zone.No dating unless dad met the suitor and parents.Girl's where a little embarrased but it went well because there first dates where senior prom and everyone stayed clean.

The fall of 2001 i would often bring dads home-made pasta, pizza or some other dish down for her and her dorm mates.Kids where allways thankfull and we allways opened with prayer, and at this point dad is thinking everything is fine.

The spring of 2002 at one of now DAD'S renowned food trips a faculty member was there and told my daughter prayer was not appropriate, after biting my toungue i kept my calm.I have been in the secular world as i am in realestate development and commercial construction.I know that values outside of our small baptist community are different.

I walked the halls and saw posters of openly gay/transgendered school events. Now i am getting angry to biblical proportions however the calming influence of my dear wife calms me.

The summer of 2002 my daughter comes home after freshman year.Dad is happy to have the whole family unit back intact.
Do not remember the exact saturday, however dad's cooking, moms doing flowers, kids are all on the computer, music is on,all's well!

Then my daughter tells me we deserved 911!!

I go ballistic!
She being a carbon copy of dad with different plumbing digs in.Then for three years my daughter and i have very limited conversation.Things get more distant. She goes to europe on a intership and as it turns out is chasing some euro-trash with tribal tattoos. The family says it is because i am a control freek. Some say it will be ok,she is just being a kid.I am devasted because all the fine upbringing and nutureing has led too this.

I know i am ranting, however am not one too baseline where others are or where their families are,i just care about me and my own.

May 6,2005 was senior art shows and i knew dad being there was important.Without many details other than naked boys running around with angel wings i gutted it out.

May 13,2005 graduation, even through 6 years in the corps, two assc.degrees, one b.e.and one mstrs. and not having parental fellowship and plain pissed off over the whole situation,i knew dad should be there.

June 19,2005 FATHERS DAY,my daughters present to dad,a embroidered american, marine and baptist flag.

With tears,dad said thankyou!

I believe in GODS GRACE AND PRAYER!

GODSPEED!

M.A.S.H. had it wrong. Suicide is NOT painless. Full Disclosure: The theme song from the TV show was the music to "Suicide is Painless", which was sung in the original movie to a character who was planning/faking his own suicide in order to induce one of the nurses to go to bed with him.

Both the TV show and movie of M.A.S.H. deserve many criticisms, but I believe that we should be correct in the particulars.

The lyrics of "Suicide is Painless" refer to the dentist himself (nicknamed "Painless"), who, despondent over an episode of impotence, fully intended to commit suicide.

The surgeons, realising the temporary nature of his problem, gave him pills that would simply sedate him, then talked a nurse into seducing him when he awakened.

The song starts out with these lines-

"Suicide is Painless
It causes many changes"

Pretty truthful- the rest of the lyrics are mostly nonsense as far as I can tell. I must say, though, that I've always found the music to be beautiful and haunting.

For what it's worth, my father spent some time recupurating in a M.A.S.H. unit during the Korean way- he says that they were just as professional as any hospital or military unit.

Stay the course..
The longer my son attended "higher education", the more I noticed how much political garbage he accumulated..

Now, I've noticed the pendulum swinging the other way..
Once married and with family, obligations, TAXES and FREE access to sources of information and interpretation that is not filtered through the pukes in ACADEMIA --- he is seeing the light again.

Our schools K-12 through the University systems have been populated with an unbalanced political and anti-faith bias.. NO ONE disputes that......But, NO ONE is doing anything about it! Perversion is more "admired", than expressions of faith.

I've noticed that those from our brotherhood - that have seen the world, lost brothers in the fight against evil, must have been inoculated at MCRD with some clearness of vision that convinced most of us that we have and need but ONE Shepherd.

"The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."

Stay the course brother.....You're winning.
She's STILL your daughter...
Love her and keep her close.

{Much ado about M.A.S.H. deleted).

I stand corrected; I was quoted from my old, creaky, memory.

And it was prob'ly past my bedtime as well :-)

In any case, can we agree Alan Alda was a flaming metrosexual?

Cheers!

I was so very moved by your story, as I was a lot like your daughter.

God bless you both!
