Dont be mislead. Today, the NY Post called it a liberal land grab-thats obfuscation and an attempt to misdirect conservative anger. This WAS NOT a liberal decision, this was an ELITE decision. This was not a constitutional decision, it was a GOVERNING CLASS decision. Unless, we objectively recognize this coup detat of the US Constitution for what it was-( i.e. a bi-partisan governing/power elite tyranizination of the average citizen-) we will lose ourselves in the partisan rhetoric blame game.
This issue transcends paritisan politics. There exist a multiplicity of issues for which we can legitimately fault LIB/DEMS, ad infinitum- but this is not one. Souter, Kennedy, Stevens may be liberals, but theyre GOP nominees on the GOVERNMENT payroll.
FOLLOW THE SILENCE. My name sake made famous the Legal Maxim, qua tacet consentire, silence betokens consent. Where was the separate dissent of Mr. Constitution, Justice Scalia? Where was the outrage from any of the national governing class? How about outrage from a GOP Mayor of a major muncipality? Only silence. Dont be mislead by the fig-leaf charade of the 5-4 decision- it was every bit as effective as 9-0 in favor of the bi-partisan minions of Government.
It is ironic that this case involved New LONDON. Old London tyrannized us in the 1700's. Now the Ruling Monarchs of New London, abetted by its fellow governing elites, attempt to take back what we won in 1776, the right to be free in our possession of property. Frankly, the current corrupted governing elite is coming all too close to becoming King George III and the new London.

***Dems, hello??? We could get out of Vietnam; we cant GET OUT of terrorism.
The judicial branch of government has been out of control for years, and what's been done about it? Nothing.
The people could have controlled the judiciary years ago, through their congressmen and senators, when the first activist judges took to their benches, but they did nothing.
So, now we reap what we have sown, and it'll get worse before it gets better.

After three days, Georgy Porgy Bush II is still absent.
But it turns out that people of all types (except hard-shell, lib-Democrats) are getting up in arms about this New London case. It is an abomination. But it is terrific to see regular Americans getting their knickers in a twist over the latest judicial outrage.

Weigh in, Reb. You with me or again' me?
I find it amazing that the liberals on the court were so fixated in their exuberance to expand governmental powers that they forgot they were enhancing the business class at the expense of so-called working class (in most of these situations). I realize liberals use the (again, so-called) working class only when they need them and crap on them whenever they don't, but they are usually consistent in their support of this group versus business.
So help me out here: is expanding governmental power the holy grail of liberalism over abortion on demand and all homosexuality all the time, or are these three issues co-equal?
This will not stop until those responsible discover that the decision to seize anothers' private property is not survivable.
This was a misguided decision by SCOTUS.
They simply failed to use cost benefit analysis and only looked at the benefit.
Here the benefit is that investment yields commercial developement, jobs and the homeowners get market prices for their property so there is no cost in the narrow view.
Taking a broader view, because everyone's property can now be taken via emminent domain, everyone's property in the entire United States is now worth a little less.
That is the cost the SCOTUS failed to realize.
This is repeated again and again throughout govt. "if we only spent a little more on xyz program, we could get these benefits" They never tell you about the costs which are higher taxes which diminsh work incentive and reduce economic activity.
YES, we MUST NOT lose ourselves in the partisan blame game. The judges ruling in favor are authoritarians. They are not liberals in any sense of the word. Neither are they conservatives. This decision was a power grab, of, by , and for the government.
Homeowners to High Court: Stick it where the sun don't shine.

Thanks for your most excellent post. I was a democrat until last Thursday. Now I am just an American. You are so right about this being an elite versus "us" thing. I feel very strongly that now is the time to put partisan stuff aside, or I fear our country will be stolen completely from us, as we bicker over stupid stuff like Rove's comments.
To anyone who feels like it will not happen to them, I just got word that a developer withdrew a bid on property in my area a couple of weeks ago. Said developer wanted to take 4 homes on one acre lots and turn them into 70+ townhomes. I live in a white, upscale Republican neighborhood in a desirable city. It's not blighted, urban, minority, waterfront, etc. It's just desirable and the tax base on 70 townhomes is more than four homes. I was thinking I was safe because who would want my neighborhood. Guess not. Time to band together. If there's a plan, count me in and please let me know how I can help. I am not a leader type, but I sure can pitch in and implement.
