John Kerry's downfall
TRIBUNE-REVIEW ^ | June 27, 2005 | Bob Pellegrino

Posted on 06/27/2005 6:10:31 AM PDT by bitt

While visiting friends recently in East Rutherford, N.J. -- the Land of No Left Turns where drivers who cut you off give you dirty looks -- I heard what must be the most astounding assessment of why John Kerry lost his bid for president.

Forget the polls and the debates and the senator's not-so-Swift boat military service in Vietnam. Mr. Kerry lost to George W. Bush because the man from Massachusetts is simply too darn smart. Wow!

There's no denying Kerry's intelligence. Otherwise the senator never would have gotten as far as he has.

But to suggest that Kerry's mental acumen somehow transgressed voters' ability to grasp his campaign for the White House -- and see through it -- is to imply that we live in a nation of nincompoops.

People aren't idiots, nor do they tolerate being played for fools. Treat them as such, and you'll pay dearly. John Kerry did.

Much to the chagrin of Kerry kiss-ups or those supporters still in denial months after the election, Americans most certainly did get Kerry. That was his downfall.

For starters, Sen. Long Face had the all the persona of an oak tree. Even under the best of circumstances -- and with the mainstream media gushing about him at every opportunity -- Kerry simply didn't connect with people. Even when he tried to loosen up it was painful to watch.

""Who knew that "compassionate conservatism" would be an excuse for unbridled federal spending? "

I did and warned that Bush was not a true conservative well before the 2000 election."

Let me interject something here. The reason Kerry lost was because he had no social agenda(Bush took it away from him with his "unbridled federal spending") and REpublicans are always better than Democrats when it comes to foreign policy, especially during war.

This unbridled federal spending came as a response to inheriting a recession and the attack of 9/11. Bush was forced to spend us out of the recession rather than tax us out as Al Gore would have done if he won his home state in 2000.

That is the bottom line. Bush already implemented cuts for 2005 and the libs complained. The economy is now strong and the deficit has come down significantly.

There's no denying Kerry's intelligence.

Just a point less than Dubya's, if Yale grades mean anything.

Your comparison of Kerry to a rat is odious. In science, rats are very useful creatures.

Too smart? What a laugh. What a stretch. What a desperate attempt by liberals to rationalize defeat.

True true... I don`t think rats leech off the female rats of their species or rarely show up to vote on hunting maneuvers for the day yet still expect to get cheese.

"Do you know who I am? squeeeak squeeeak! I`m rat sKerry! Squeeeak! My gaurdian rat is a SOB! squeeeak! squeeeeak! He made me fall down the garbage heap in front of the press! squeeeeak squeeeeak! I voted to cut the cheese before I voted against cutting the cheese! squeeeak squeeeak!"

I always thought his photographer was a Republican. Why else would there be so many awful pictures of him?

I never laughed so hard in my life

John Kerry is a total dork.

Everything about him is laughable.

He left us more funny memories than Al Gore!

I'll always be grateful for the laughs.
