CLAUDE, TX -- A massive crack in the earth opened up last week in Claude, Texas and it*s creating a stir among geologists.
Geologists said Tuesday the crack was a joint in the earth*s crust. They believe the opening is the result of a weak point in the joint where one spot slips away from the other.
Some parts measure more than 30-feet deep and it drained what used to be a pond. Experts say earth cracks are common but the size of the crack in Claude is not.

Thanks ... I wouldn't have come up with it if I hadn't just been on a thread arguing that Bush personally brought every single illegal alien across the border with Mexico in the back of his pickup truck.

Nah, rather something Biblical, where Earth cracked asunder and swallowed some notorious sinners. And Greek mythology knew similar cases, too, like one Amphiaraios (sp?). Thus one ought to inquire into the morals of local inhabitants.

A Claudian Crack is prophesied in Crackviticus 11:4. Or was it a Cracked Accordion that was prophesied ?
I'll have to refresh myself on the study of Seismic Musical Prophecy.
To: Lijahsbubbe
Dunno, but from the pic, it looks pretty long. The article doesn't say how long it is.

If Texas gets sucked down, I hope it drags Mexico down with it.
To: Keith in Iowa
We had one here in New Mexico, near Socorro, some 20 years ago. If I remember correctly, it was deeper than this one, and it caused some stir amongst the media for a few days, and field trips from college geology classes, government officials and media hacks from far and near..
A couple years later, it was hard to find, and today I doubt that you could find it even with GPS coordinates.
No big deal.

I'm sure Claude, TX is the Sodom and Gomorrah of the US.

It's too late, Mexico is already filling the Texas void.

If West Texas, they have been irrigating from the underground aquifers and maybe that is related.
