Clinto said in Houston former First Lady Barbara Bush "announced us. And she said she has started to call me son. I told the Republicans there, I said don't worry, every family has one, you know, the black sheep. I told them, this just shows you the lengths the Bushes would go to get another president in the family. I wish I could get them to adopt Hillary."

Just curious as to how many people on this thread have friends or family members that they continue to spend time with who are liberals.

Personally, I have both family and friends that I spend time with who are liberals.

The best thing for conservatives to do is to gain control of their party apparatus in the state they live. Get involved and keep sending solid conservatives up the pipeline. Never - ever - vote the party endorsed card at caucuses or conventions. Ask around and get connected to the malcontents (as long as they are conservative). Screw the 'moderates' that seek to build coalitions (i.e., dilute conservative goals and messages). Once the control of the party is in place, the national level will begin to feel the heat.

Well, I have a biological brother that is a bleeding heart liberal. I have not talked to him since 1988. I got married, had two kids. He had two kids, without getting married since that year. He has never seen my kids, I saw one of his, once. I guess I will see him at my mother's wake (God forbid she pass), if he shows up. The rest of my family is conservative to moderate. But, more importantly, most who call themselves conservatives had absolutely no idea of what a conservative is. Even on this sight there are many who think they are conservative, and can only pass as moderates.

Don't worry. I haven't voted for a Republican candidate for awhile. I usually vote 3rd party or leave it blank

Have any won election? Do you vote in the primaries? What have you done to get someone you would consider worthy of your vote into a position to win an election?

Have you not talked to him because of his liberalism, or was it something else?

I have not talked to him because we have nothing of substance in common. We are friends with people that we choose to be friends with. If he were not my brother, I would have nothing to do with him. The fact that he is my brother should not erase all of that. I am one of five kids in the family. I have a solid relationship with three. His liberalism and my conservatism are certainly the underlying fundamentals that drive our thinking, which causes us to have less in common. I do not have any friends who are liberals. I am sure that there are many who consider themselves moderates. I live in Illinois. There are many here who voted for Bush and Obama. HUH? How can a guy who thinks that Bush is the best person for the job believe that Obama is the best person for the job. IGNORANCE RUNS RAMPANT IN THIS WORLD!

Just wondered if the ties had been cut because of his liberalism or because of some terrible thing he had done to the family.

My sister is as liberal as they come, but she's still my sister and I love her dearly. I would never cut ties with her because our politics are different.

There was no terrible incident. He is my brother, and I love him dearly, as well. If he ever called and said that he NEEDED me I would be there for him. Just ask yourself one question ... if your sister was not your sister is she the type of person that you would be friends with? My wife thinks that her and her sister our good friends. Her sister lives four blocks away from us. They come over on Christmas, and Superbowl Sunday. Other than that they have nothing to do with each other except if they are relaying something that happened between one of them and their mother. Is that a friend? Our neighbors two doors away are friends, we go out to dinner once every two months. What is the difference between my wife's sister, and our neighbor. One is a friend, and one is a sibling. Are you and your sibling friends? I am not friends with all of my siblings. I

Most of my friends in Texas are conservatives, though there are several moderates and a few liberals amoung them.

Most of my friends in New Jersey / Pennsylvania are liberals, though there are a few moderates and even fewer conservatives amoung them.

One of my neighbors are Republicans. I get along with the wife and the children but I can't stand the husband- not because of his politics, but because of his whiny / grumpy attitude.

Yes, because we share other things in common.

Bubba's looking a lot healthier since he's been hanging around with GHWB. I think the Bushes helped to pull this bad boy back from the brink of death.
