Yes, someone else already mentioned that it's the Taj Mahal, and after looking more closely, I think you're both right. But I thought the Taj Mahal was not a palace but a memorial to the deceased wife of the Shah who had it built.

I thought it was a mosque, until others pointed out it's the Taj Mahal.

The Taj is actually a mausoleum. The only thing inside is the sarcophagi of Mumtaz Mahal and her husband Shah Jahan. He wanted to build a black mausoleum across the river from her, but since he was at that time in jail, it didn't work out. The acoustics are supposedly awesome. And both the inside and the outside are made of equisitely carved marble. Or watermelon, as the case may be.

Why would you consider the Taj a mosque?

Personally I think we should bomb their country, kill their leaders, convert them to Christianity and steal their watermelons.

Why would you consider the Taj a mosque?
1. Because it kind of resembles one.
2. Because it's elaborate design is unusual for a building intended solely as a mausoleum for the wife of a prince. It's appearance suggests that it would have a broader purpose.
3. Because mosques are much in the news these days, and a building with an Islamic architectural style immediately calls to mind a mosque, even if it is really something else, such as a mausoleum or a palace or a bank.
I personally know a little about the Taj Mahal because years ago I bought a record album that was recorded there and it gave some of the history. If it hadn't been for that chance purchase, I might assume it was a mosque.

Just so I never see one carved to look like THIS, I'll be OK with their watermelon art.
