"I almost posted it this morning but thought better of it."

I'm glad you waited.
I might have missed it had you posted it during your morning.
I found it to be funny, too. ;o)

Your "today" is my tomorrow.
What time is it in your neck of the woods?

Criiikkieee!

What a disastrous mess!

Well, mate, let me tell you that Missouri (where I live) is the second-largest producer of cattle in America (behind only (guess what) Texas).

Not that we have such things happening routinely here...well, at least not on the big highways....they use them to transport 'nucular' waste rather than cows...it might happen on the smaller roads, though.

);)

We have the best beef I think....if you ever have occasion to travel to Missouri, look me up, and I'll treat you to a steak at Everett's Restaurant.

By the way, mate, how do you spell "crrikkiee" (or whatever Steve Irwin says)? (And what does it actually translate as?)

LOL, (hope you are smiling too) .... I know it's a stereotype, but I invoke it in jest. My best friend traveled extensively in Australia, and fell in love with the place and the people. She convinced me that it might be a good place for someone like me to escape to ...

Right at this minute, it's 22 minutes past three on Thursday afternoon - and not a cow in sight!

you are 17 hours ahead?
I'm on the left coast.

"...and not a cow in sight!"

How about chickens? lol

You'd be most welcome!

If I ever get to Mizoorah (that's how it's pronounced, isn't it?), I'll certainly look you up. I LOVE a good steak.

"Crikey" is a very old Aussie exclamation of surprise, as in "Howard Dean's just been elected President"..."CRIKEY!!!!"

If your gunna die, the LaTrobe Valley is the place to do it!

Hordes of locals probably descended brandishing knives and forks.

You're not spruiking for a Mr.Mayne are you ? (Or perhaps you are him...)

Anyway, I reckon as soon as that cow hit the road this morning it was frozen cold stiff. The wind through the LaTrobe Valley on a winters morning would freeze the balls off a satanic cult's brass monkey.

GROUND beef! was my daughter's reaction.

These cows fell out one or two at a time over a kilometer and the driver didn't notice? What was he driving?

Many strange things happen in Australia. That's what makes it fun. A Ute is a good thing to run over things with, but not one's self. Prayers to the deceased Ute driver. John Howard has just made a decree that all Utes on the road must have their lights on all day as a mark of respect for the fallen Ute driver.
