The US military in World War II weren't all draftees. Many able bodied men actually lied about their age (both boys too young and men too old) and physical condition TO GET INTO THE WAR.

Mahmood "the brain" and his top aide Pinky....

Pinky: "Gee, Mahmood, what do you want to do tonight?"

Brain: "The same thing we do every night, Pinky...Try to take over the world"

Brain:"Are you pondering what i'm pondering"

Pinky: "Zoink"

Pinky: "Eegad, Mahmood"

To prove their mousey worth, They'll overthrow the earth. They're dinky; they're Pinky and The Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain.

No need for a draft here. If intelligence indicates that a significant percentage of Iran does not want to be liberated, then we need to pre-emptively decimate their nuclear facilities with tactical nuke bunker busters.

I don't say this lightly. I had opposed heavy civilian losses in the past. But the people of Iran should get exactly what they want. If it's a war, let's give them a war.

If we don't have nuke bunker busters [and it would be insane not to], jerry-rig some. Jam their communications. And we need neutron bombs to take out the rest of their military, their anti-aircraft facilities, etc. Then the predator drones can clear out certain problems. Then we carpet bomb them on the cheap [just old fashioned mass-destruction bombs, daisy cutters, etc. MOABs might be expensive] to the stone age. We do all we can to preserve the oil facilities, crossing our fingers on that, and let the Iranians languish in rubble. NO AID.

Your seemingly well thought out and well worded post at first glance appears to be noble in intent until you get to the real interpretation.

"One critical new factor has not been considered by any of the previouis posters;.."

Interpretation, "You peons have over looked what I think is most important."

"If this is more than talk, further expansion of the war on terror could draw us into a far larger conflict than we anticipate."

Interpretation, "Don't get get your panties in a wad and go off half cocked you hot headed morons. What if this...what if that... oh no!!!...watch out!!!..Henny Penny and the sky is falling so don't make any sudden moves!!! That might scare me!!!"

"I would argue that with the economy and military in it's current state, we are ill prepared should this occur."

No faith in the US Military eh?? Where are you from newbie? The US doesn't necessarily need ground forces to take out Iran, although military intervention is not what is being proposed.

"It is imperative we think before we act..."

Think before we act? Bahahaha! Like no one in the Bush administration has ever done that before right? Ten years of "thought" was not enough for you before Iraq I suppose.

Go home to DU and JFsKerry and maybe you can both intellectualize your way out of a wet paper bag. We have heard it all before.

Daughter of the revolution indeed......

We are at war. No faith. No guts. No glory. No freedom.

Are you always obnoxious?

Your presumption of psychic powers is amusing. I brought up the Chinese/Russian accord as I believe that in behaving precipitiously, we might be biting off more than we can presently chew. I did not know if everyone reading this thread was cognizant of this new arrangement, nor of the joint pronouncements that were forthcoming. Their threat to the US was veiled, but would reasonably leave one to conjecture how they would react to an expansion in the war on terror. In other words, we must consider how to deal with them should our actions precipitate a response from them. China has tremendous manpower, and has been building up her weapon stores. Putin surely has a few nukes at his disposal.

I have full faith in our troops; I also respect them enough to believe that they have a right to know what their mission is, and to be as best prepared as we can make them. That part of your dismissive rebuke was particularly nasty. My nick, Daughter of the revolution, relates to my ancestry, which goes back to the first Scots-Irish presbyterian settlers in the colony of Massachusetts. Members of my family have fought in every significant conflict this nation has seen, from the REVOLUTON forward. Do not talk down to me again or I will return your vitriol word for word. Excuse me, I've found many intelligent and reasonable folks to communicate with, so I'll close for now.

Your friend,
Daughter of the revolution

I don't know.

Reports have been coming in that the Jihadist in the red circle is no longer wasting air, hair and skin.

But I would be concerned that such a use of the bomb would in fact kill many Iranian civilians.

Gramps, I'm no scholar, but seems to me the bible and Revelations was written for and by middle-easterners, not us Yanks.

This guy LOOKS like an Anti-Christ to me.

And what better way to set the islamowhacks on fire than by issuing jihad against everybody coming out of the gate?

OK..so you want to bring up rhetoric that can be used by Islamic extremists to take our eye off Iran...I'm game.

First of all, no one is proposing "expanding" the war on terror by nuking Iran. Let's put that right up front.

Second, this four year old "accord" you speak of is reminiscent of the old cold war packed between Moscow and Beijing and was accomplished because Moscow has more to fear from China (being that they are neighbors) then the US. Along the same lines China does more trade with the US then with Russia so economically we are more allied with China then Russia is.

Third, Both China and Russia are in agreement with the US that Islamic fundamentalism is a threat. Remember the school in Russia? Let's also keep in mind that those of the Buddhist and Hindu faith are higher on the Koran's "kill" list in the Koran then are Christians in that Christians can be slaves to Islam but the Chinese infidels must be killed no questions asked. The Chinese are not "people of the book". So to say that Beijing would interfere with any US military action against this insane Iranian president is just ludicrous.

The alliance between Moscow and Beijing is being portrayed by some to be a counter balance to US military hegemony. I think it is bunk used by the left. The US is not trying to take over the world..ok? We can use the same air space as other people here on earth. To say otherwise is just causing trouble.

So to answer your implied question, are we "aware" enough here on FR to know about the alliance..yes.

If you come here thinking that your family history is more significant than any that of many here on FR you are in for a rude awaking.

Their are people here from all walks of life and all levels of education. We keep it simple and have a tendency to bury the thesaurus. So if you would like to use the "I'm more superior then most here because I use words that sound intelligent" card to lubricate your motives, I think you will be in for a rude awakening.

People here can read between the lines newbie.

By the way..my "friends" don't call me obnoxious..they call me incorrigible.

It is not my wish to offend anyone; I speak just as I write. From what I've read of the postings here, you are, as a group, as intelligent as any I have encountered anywhere.

The Creator gifted all of us differently, but no one gift has more intrinsic value than the next. Accept the gifts I have for what they are. I do have insight, and am a political if not a party animal. I view issues head on, not from an ideological viewpoint. I believe in restraint and moderation, allowing the brain time to do it's job. I believe there is great value in thinking things though before acting on them.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but I believe the way to take this fellow down must come from "within." I think that is the smartest, sanest and safest of our present options. The same goals could be achieved with far less risk than some other solutions.

If I were to change anything, it would be to have a more effective CIA.

As regards my personal history, I am proud of my lineage but do not believe it makes me superior to anyone else. Their heritage is just as important to them!

Glad you are are a bit less grouchy today ;-P

"It is not my wish to offend anyone..

Am I to believe that when the very first words you posted to a fellow freeper were, "Have you ever read the Constitution?"

It's just a little smug to assume that a person has not read the Constitution when we all start out in elementary school learning about it, don't ya think?

Then you go on to repeat again, almost word for word, the Demorats talking points...

"Since Congress was deliberately misled, this whole Iraqi misadventure was unconstitutional; that is why it is an impeachable offence."

You also put terrorism in quotes. Just a small hint to imply that the word used by the Bush Administration to describe our enemy's mission is questionable to you. What word/words do you prefer to terrorism to describe the deliberate killing of the innocent to spark fear in the hearts of one's enemies "friend"? Let me guess...something along the lines of legitimate justifiable warfare maybe?

Now, in this your second ever thread to post to, you bring up more leftist talking points about the China/Russian fear factor.

Further evidence that would lead one to conclude that you may be less then forth coming with your real reason for being here.

"I do have insight.."

That's nice but I would wager Howard Dean's mother encouraged him to believe that he had "insight" as well. Tee Hee Hee.

"I believe in restraint and moderation, allowing the brain time to do it's job."

So do the French, who take it a bit too far..so what's your point? ...That you think someone is going to run over to Iran tomorrow and tear up the place? Bahahaha.

"...I am proud of my lineage..."

So was Napoleon.

I don't get this obsession of yours to enlighten us all with your genealogy. A huge majority of Americans can trace their roots back to the revolution or at least some of our early conflicts. Join the crowd.

With all this talk about your lineage and judging by the comments you have made in the precious few days that you have been here, you could be Ward Churchill for all I know.

Grouchy? No..what you are witnessing is the righteous indignation that occurs when a Freeper smells a very slick troll.

Pondering this in light of London today:

To: truth_seeker

"In one night, the martyrs strode down a path of 100 years."

A reference to 9/11?

Wow, good catch. I was busy trying to confirm the pictures of this guy and overlooked that.

I do believe you are correct. Though it was daytime when the attack occured. We'll see if there is any clarification that follows in the next few days. Or if anybody calls him on it.

Ominous. What that statement actually references we probably will never know, it could have been 9/11 or maybe what just happened in London, but in any event it was definitly a threat.

If it turns out that Iran WAS behind this then they really should get a boot up the butt. It's the American Way you know. Or, I should say, the Anglo-American Way.
