Do you want to know? All senators who voted against Souter were Democrats, including Kerry, EMK, Mikulski, Terry Sanford, Brock Adams, Bradley, Lautenberg, and Quentin Burdick of ND.
The American Conservative Union endorsed Souter. All Republican senators voted for him, including Helms and Nickles, then the two most conservative senators. Pete Wilson though was apparently absent from the vote.
Geez - wha' happened - did Souter fool everyone, or was the homework not done? Or did the Left threaten to out him and he capitulated to their whims for life?
Souter pulled a real switch after he was named. Still wonder why?
