May 11, 2005 Host: Vic Eliason Topic: False Doctrine Guest: David DiCanio Description: Dr. David DiCanio is Pastor of Columbine Free Presbyterian Church in Columbine, Colorado, and is involved in Christian Media, which produces television-style documentaries on religious trends and movements. Vic Eliason presents two audio cuts. One features Robert Schuller being interviewed by Dr. David DiCanio after giving a keynote address at the 2004 National Association of Evangelicals meeting. The other cut features Robert Schuller interviewing Billy Graham. The two discuss their views concerning how people are saved.

Dr. DiCanio interacts with callers to discuss the opinions expressed by Schuller and Graham and the current move of some leaders in Christianity to preach a gospel that teaches salvation apart from a conscious, biblical awareness of Christ as the only way to God.

Saved meaning via the God of the Bible.

The insult emotions youve brought into this do not make sense to me.

Thanks for the audio mark.

To me it sounded like he was talking specifically about people who've *never* heard the gospel message. He was saying he believes Jesus Christ can come into a person's heart even if (s)he hasn't ever heard of Him or read a Bible before.

I don't see how anyone can argue with that unless he claims to know exactly how God determines the salvation of those who, as mentioned before, have *never* heard the gospel message.

The existence of God is clearly seen by looking at what He has created. But He is NOT His creation. The theory of the universalists is that man is created in the image of God, and can therefore find that essence of God within them. THIS IS BUNK. God is God and man is man. We are make in His likeness, but there is no part of us that is Him in any way shape or form. We cannot go within to find Him. We can only find Him through CHRIST!!!!!!!!!

Remember that Satan believes in God. He is also the great deceiver. He presents himself as an angel of light. He fooled Eve into thinking that God was conspiring against humans to hide certain knowledge and truths from them. THAT WAS THE BEGINNING OF OUR TROUBLES. We will not find God down Satan's deceptive path. We will ONLY find Him in Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior. That's it. There is a wide gate that leads to destruction. That's the universalist way. There is a narrow gate that leads to life. That's Christ's way. It doesn't happen by accident. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. NOT by an inner feeling of the "essence" of God within. That's a lie from Satan, the great deciever. It is the ANCIENT lie of all lies and it leads straight to destruction.

We must repent of our sins and put our faith in the one who is our Substitution. He died in our stead. He paid the price for our sins. He is the ONLY way, and we must know Him BY NAME!

>>>The Rev. Graham has Parkinsons & from what someone said yesterday I take it the dementia effect is the same as Alzheimers>>>

This is true. My father has Parkinson's w/Alzheimer's "type" dementia and he has gone from a staunch liberal agnostic to actually going to church with me. His father was a preacher his entire life, so he strayed for about 30 decades (right after he began college coincidentally) and I hope he comes back before he gets too far along.

"Respectfully, you just don't understand Christian doctrine. Consider this: Would a person who has never heard of gravity be spared if he stepped off a ten-story building?"

Bad analogy - God is not an unfeeling force of nature.

You are not incorrect.

Romans 1:20 "For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse"

God's nature is obvious. You will be fairly judged by God based on how you have accepted Him as the Creator.

Yeah, but I'll jump on the bandwagon and condemn him for his applause of the Clintons.

There isn't any mention of Heaven before Christ is there?

There's Genesis 1:1: "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth."

I'm shocked that so many here are judging Graham with zero evidence. No transcript, no context, nada. Before debating the finer points of Christian theology, let's get the basics down. (See "Ten Commandments" for details; better read them quick before SCOTUS has them banned completely.)

That is really unbiblical. The bible is the means, the word, the history of Jesus Christ. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Without faith there is no salvation.

>>>For example, what about the innocent infants and babies who don't know anything of Christ - won't their souls be saved?>>>

The bible says that those under the age of reasoning will be saved regardless.

Does that mean that the Jimmuh is distant kin to Edith Bunker (Jean Stapleton)?

For example, what about the innocent infants and babies who don't know anything of Christ - won't their souls be saved?

In the Presbyterian PCA we have a pro-life plank. Therefore it is very easy for us to say yes, that the unborn who die through natural means or even unnatural, are saved. We believe that God hastens and regenerates His elect as He wishes. This may include young children, whom after God regenerates "Confess with the mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord"; and are saved.

We believe that God has to do the regenerating work of taking a sinner "Dead in trespasses and sin", one whom the Father draws "No one comes to me unless the Father draws Him" by the irresistible grace of the Holy Spirit, to the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ "No one comes to the Father except through Me". It is a work of God.

For all the rest, there is the testimony of Creation (See Romans 1) and are without excuse.

Blessed be God, who takes those Dead in Trespasses and sin and resurrects them to new life!
