" Rear Admiral Peter H. Daly, the commander of the Nimitz's Carrier Strike Group Eleven, said the crews were eager to witness Malaysian culture and people during the five-day port call." Miss Malaysia

12,000 miles per day? Huh? Looks like they are off by a factor of about 100. And that "Helicopter pilot Petty Officer Second Class..." is a little suspect also.

With 24 hours in one day, that is 502.3 miles per hour. Two nuclear reactors, or possibly dilithium crystals?
502.3 miles per hour. Fascinating.

As an ex-expatguy there's nothing like visiting a US carrier in a foreign land, especially on the 4th of July.
In my case it was on the French Riviera. (A tough assignment but someone had to do it.)
Enjoy your Fourth ... and I hope many sailors taste your chili.

STILL no Velveeta?!
I smell a conspiracy, man. It is another attempt by Tha Man to keep a FReeper down. Call Art Bell and, like, tell him how the Trilateral Commission and the Bildebergers have been hasslin' ya! ;-)

Tiger beer is pretty damned good. Also, I rather like saigon Beer (formerly Biere La Rue).

Helicopter pilot Second Class Petty Officer Kortney Backer, 22, said she was glad for the opportunity...Things sure have changed since this oldsalt retired about twenty years ago {sarcasm off}.
You would think that a reporter assigned to write about things military would actually know something about the military. Too much to ask, huh?

...a little suspect
To say the least. I sort of wondered if they'd combined CVW-11 with the Strike Group as well. Oh well, unimportant really. But annoying to us that know.
Expat - I won't begrudge my shipmates their liberty, so please feed them well. But at some point, please point out that a sailor from the CARL VINSON was wondering if they could please hurry up and eat? We extended so they could eat hot dogs on the 4th of July.
