I think the plan was (and maybe still is) to spread the gossip that it was Rove, knowing full well the grand jury proceedings are secret until time to indict (or not). I think they figure they can spread this caca del toro until that time, and by then Rove is (they hope) slimed. Hope it backfires on 'em.
Remember when this story broke and Wilson said Rove would be frog marched out of the WH ?
I sense a conspiracy to implicate Karl Rove, only the SC discovered the truth, that it was not Karl, and the conspiracy, that some MSM reporters, Wilson, or whoever conspired and lied to investigators and the Grand Jury. Cooper and Miller know this, are trapped, and will not testify before the Grand Jury. They would rather go to jail for 4 months than commit perjury.
They are terrified that the judge will put them in DC Jail though, although the Dem operatives will put out the word to keep them save there ...
