Paris has superb transportation infrastructure to bring the huge number of people expected at the Olympics (two major airports plus excellent high-speed rail connections to the rest of Europe).
Yes, their public transportation is really great... on the rare occasion that it's not on strike! When I was in France in March, there was a big strike in Paris on the very day that the olympic delegation was visiting. Bravo.

Same issue when I was there back in 98. Strikes caused major problems in attending a scientific meeting. I vowed never to return. The lazy frogs only work 35 hours/week (attend the office, not necessarily working) and get 8 weeks vacation/year. Strikes seems to be a way of extending the vacation time for the frogs sunning themselves on the river bank.
