What about the other independent council report that is due this month? (The one the Dems tried to block by legislation.) Any word?

I forgot about that one

Swamp Thing :-) It was an amazing under-reported story that Wilson either lied to the public in his interviews or he lied in his official report about his trip to Niger.

Actually no. It's confidential to the grand jury and will be sealed unless there is an indictment handed down. (I spent 3 years on a federal grand jury and heard this adminishment on a daily basis!)

Well....that settles it once and for all, doesn't it?

We already know that Karl Rove has signed waivers to all the reporters he interviewed with.

So, if Cooper's "source" just signed a waiver "TODAY".....his source can't possibly be Rove, can it?

Thanks for underscoring that.

Right this second Cooper is on tv emphasing his "source" as if that's all the grand jury wants.

I can't cut and paste from the Appeals Court ruling that has the bits of the subpoena but I'll type up some of what the grand jury wants on Cooper:

"any and all documents...[relating to] conversations between Matthew Cooper and source(s) prior to July 14, 2003, concerning in any way: Former Ambassador Joseph C. Wilson; the 2002 trip by former Ambassador Joseph Wilson to Niger; Valerie Wilson Plame, a/k/a Valerie Wilson, a/k/a Valerie Plame (the wife of former Ambassador Wilson); and/or any affiliation between Valerie Wilson Plame and the CIA"

And second subpoena to TIME stated in part:

"all notes, tape recordings, emails or other documents of Matthew Cooper relating to the July 17, 2003 Time.com article entitled 'A War on Wilson?' and the July 21, 2003 Time Magazine article entitled 'A Question of Trust'."

Miller's subpoena reads in part:

Subpoenas issued...seeking documents and testimony related to conversations between her and a specified government official "occurring from on or about July 6, 2003 to on or about July 13, 2003...concerning Valerie Plame Wilson...OR (my caps) concerning Iraqi efforts to obtain uranium."

A few months ago the Dems attached a hidden item that would de-fund the independent council's report. Their contention was that it had already cost $15 million. Word leaked out, and the Republicans reversed it.

Something like Cisneros (?) There might be IRS activities of the Clintons in it, etc. Sorry, I don't clearly remember the details.

So, Cooper will name a source. He better be ready to answer questions.

If there's a source at State involved, some of us think it would be

Greg Thielmann

But I believe the person testifying is free to go out and spew? At least I can recall hearing that. But the person is under no obligation to be honest about what he tells the public. So he can lie to the public all he wants as long as he doesn't get caught doing it in front of the gj.

Wasn't it Tenet that initiated this investigation?

So, why would Tenet start an investigation to find out who was the leaker if he himself was the leaker?

Cooper spinning to the MSM that hasn't followed the details that his testimony is only about a "leaker."

Remember this one?

Cooper has been subpoenaed twice, agreeing to sit for a deposition and answer questions in August about conversations with a source who encouraged him to cooperate with Fitzgerald. Within days of that deposition, he was subpoenaed again to discuss what his lawyers described as "an expanded array of topics," triggering his objection and ultimately the contempt finding.

Thielmann is my bet, too.

Although Powell would REALLY make sense in terms of why the press is so hell bent to protect him.
