Hmmm, leaving Judy out to dry or will this get her off the hook?

So much for high-minded journalistic integrity. Now it's time to save his own butt!

HA! So much for his "jounalistic resolve." Put the threat of a little jail time in front of him, and his "ideals" get sacraficed.

I'd love to see him get caught perjuring himself after the Grand Jury compares Novak's and Cooper's testimony.

No way will this get her off the hook. The prosecutor wants to know what other information was passed to these reporters. Possibly Cooper didn't have any incriminating evidence that could lead to other investigations, but Miller wasn't working on the Plame story. She was a Middle Eastern reporter.

you think the leaker is Tenet? I wonder if they will play games and say they each had different sources for the same info - and Cooper will simply walk in there and claim he got his information from Rove (even if its a lie), and he has nothing to do with where Novak got his from?

Getting info from Rove is not an issue (since reporters do this everyday from government sources), only getting the specific info who Wilson's wife was AND that she was a covert agent (if she even was one to begin with). And if Rove truly did release reporters from any confidentiality, I find it hard to believe he did anything illegal.

The lefty blather about "bush lied" about WMDs hid who had the most inclination for revenge: George "Slam Dunk" Tenet. His apologia after the Wilson article included jabs at Wilson, jabs borne out to be well-founded in the Senate Intel report.

There are multiple "leakers", see my betting thread. As for Miller I think she is important 1. First to tell Libby about Plame, or 2. told other reporters about Plame, or gave "Wilson's wife" a name, or 3. was working on a Plame puff piece with Wilson/Plame showing the couple didn't think her name was such a secret, or 4. She was spreading rumors on behest of Tenet or his associates.

I like no. 4 because it's more fun.

I agree, but the media simply needs any piece of testimony from anyone that says "its Rove" - and that's what they will run with. the facts do not matter. the media simply wants someone to say it was Rove, even if it means they are lying or at best becomes a "he said/she said".

Only the ones who illegally disclose classified information need worry.

Fox just said that Judith Miller refuses to testify and it could be as early as today, when she will find out if she goes to jail or not.

You are correct. No matter what happens now, the left will be calling for Rove's resignation and Bush's impeachment. But they were calling for this before anyway.

Could it be that these reporters and their employers are dead set against revealing their sources because the leaker is a liberal who created this whole tempest-in-a-teapot for political reasons?

This should say "again".

For those not following, he already did testify to this grand jury...then they wanted more. I predicted he would testify and I predicted Miller would stand tough which she just did declare.

****Fox reporting that Cooper said until shortly before the hearing he was not going to cave and then he claims that in somewhat dramatic fashion he was contacted by his source and the source relieved him from confidentiality.

Oh brother

They just said on Fox that Matthew Cooper received a communique from his "source" today, right before he was going to tell the judge that he WOULDN'T testify, releasing him from his promise not to reveal the name...

IOW, the source said "go ahead and reveal my name, keep yourself out of jail"...

You're exactly right. Rove talked to reporters a week before the story and has never denied that but has denied giving non-common knowledge information to them. According to many in the journalistic field, Plames name was common knowledge through Wilson himself and Wilson liked to talk a lot while drinking at social parties. Most administration officials and even the President aren't given actual names of CIA Ops because of national security reasons in case something may happen to them.
