World Poverty Solved!
abc.net.au ^ | 5/07/2005 | Lisa Richards

Request from Lisa Richards for a World Economics Expert to be a guest on a TV program in Australia -

"Few of us understand the mind boggling facts, figures and general workings of world trade, budgets, expenditures etc. Simple maths suggests that with the population of the world around 6 billion, United States expenditure on defence at around 370 Billions it is feasible that if every man, woman and child in the world were to receive as a gift from the United States 1 Billion dollars each, there would still be 364 Billion dollars left over for defence spending. This is only one section of one budget for one country. I understand this will never happen but would like to know why a gesture such as this would cause turmoil to the worlds economic structure. Perhaps the Yes Men could investigate on our behalf!!! Seems like a very simple and uneducated request, I know, but I 'm sure it would bring to light some interesting facts and truth behind the illusion that keeps us all in the dark on such matters."

There is no such thing as "simple math"...only math performed by a simple person.....

I meant, the author wasn't a math major. Her plan would only allow ONE ($1) dollar per person.

Whoops, back to the drawing board. Sky falling again, all is lost. Extended forecast calls for increasing misery and death.

I realize the rest of the world thinks we are so steenking rich here in the USA, but SIX QUADRILLION dollars is not a bill we are going to be able to foot right away, give us a couple of years maybe....

Hooboy - 370 billion buckadingdongs over 6 billion people works out to $61.67 each. That'd keep me in beer for a weekend, I guess...

6,000,000,000 * 1,000,000,000 = 6,000,000,000,000,000,000 or

This post vividly illustrates why math, sciences and engineering are male dominated fields.

Thank God that was just some normal dumb person, that is spectacularly dumb. At first I thought this was an actual expert. If this is just one email to ABC, whoever reads those probably gets several hearty laughs a day.
