BLAST AT CITY TUBE STATION - FOUR BOMB EXPLOSIONS AROUND LONDON
Sky News ^ | July 7, 2005

Posted on 07/07/2005 1:45:13 AM PDT by RWR8189

There has been an explosion at Aldgate East underground station in London, causing the closure of the entire Tube network.

There are also reports that a second incident took place at Edgware Road station in north west London.

The Aldgate East blast was caused by "some kind of power surge", according to Tube infrastructure company Metronet, which is responsible for maintaining the Metropolitan line.

A spokesman said: "We don't know the extent of the problem yet."

A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We have just sent some resources out to the scene."

British Transport Police confirmed that there are "walking wounded" and said paramedics have responded to one report of a person classed as "life at risk".

"It's chaos, with people trying to work out what has happened," said a spokesman.

"All we know at the moment is that staff reported a loud bang at 8.49am. No one is sure what caused an explosion, but it is thought it could have been a collision, a power cut, or a power cable problem."

One witness said the packed underground train he was on was 200 metres from Kings Cross when there was a huge flash.

The train stopped and people were using umberellas to smash windows of the trains. Passengers were led out of the train by underground staff.

He added people were milling around Kings Cross covered in soot.

Dark humor is actually good for you. it doesn't mean you think the situation is funny

Absolutely correct. We're all trying to lighten eachothers moods here. What's getting the biggest laugh is that these morons might actually think that a city that went thru the Blitz and the IRA campaign will EVER be defeated by a bunch of goat farmers.

But's that not the defeat it seems to be on the surface. There was a partition, but now 2/3rds of the land had by that time been taken away from the Jews and the White Paper of 1939 was just around the corner.

Like BLOWN UP? Did he die?

Yes. I forget the details now but there was a neighbor dispute going on as well. It was very sad.

I remember that. I also recall that there was a pesky, non-Islamist neighbor that was unhinged enough to do that.

Katie Colic currently on NBC admonishing her viewers not to rush to judgement and accept Al Qaeda's claim of responsibility.

Maybe she knows something for sure??? Like "Katie-did-it." (I'm so tired of her claiming everything is Bush's fault, so Katie-did-it suits me fine)

From the Threat Matrix thread:

9 + 11 + 01 = 19

7 + 7 + 05 = 19

And the first bombs went off at 8:50 AM local time.

The am timing has been noted as a "match" and "relevant". My theory is that morning is the most "regimental" or "on schedule" part of the day.

Blair didn't set bombs on the subways, didn't blow up a bus. This isn't his fault. Israel has faced these types of attacks for what, a decade? There is no answer in how to prevent this. That the focus was able to shift away from the war on terror is indeed a problem, but that isn't the fault of our leaders so much as the general sense that we're all safe in our homes while bad things happen elsewhere.

The truth of today's attacks, just as the truth is there from Spain and New York and Washington is that this war against terrorists isn't a problem for someone somewhere else, it is a problem for each and every one of us and we should give as much support to our leaders to keep the focus on this war. Blair's shift in vision is the fault of the moonbats within his own party who are demanding that their liberal agenda take precedent.

But be that as it may, the terrorists who committed these crimes are the ones responsible and our focus should be on finding them, capturing them, putting them on trial at some point and using nickle ammo to shoot their heads off. What happens in Palestine is my problem, what happens in Iraq is my problem, what some wacko hooked up to a machine in the mountains of Afghanistan thinks is my problem.

Thank god that our troops are out there on the front line killing those who would otherwise be happily blowing themselves up in my own home town. Thankfully the terrorists are stupid enough to take on fully armed combat troops vs figuring out new ways to sneak into our countries and kill our people.

I do not understand why officials always say "definitely not terrorism" before anyone has a chance to investigate.

On 9/11, the official position just before the 2nd plane hit was that the first collision was caused by faulty navigation gear

The initial impulse is to concoct some plausible story about it not being terrorism, and then see if it can be plausibly maintained. See Flight 800

The subsequent additional explosions in London made the initial official explanation "inoperative"

Wonder if they will cut to the Senate for Ted Kennedy's calling for Bush's being at fault for all of this?

I hope Brit public sentiment really rises up now against the Muslims, big time. There should be a Gitmo for every mosque.
