A portion of a major natural gas pipeline apparently ruptured and exploded this morning in rural Morgan County, sending flames hundreds of feet into the air and setting five buildings ablaze. The explosion in a Tennessee Gas pipeline along Taylor Road near the Athens-Morgan county line was reported to authorities about 8:45 a.m. The blast caused several fires along the route of the 25-inch high-pressure pipeline.
