At White House, a Day of Silence on Rove's Role in C.I.A. Leak (NY Slimes Barf Alert)

WASHINGTON, July 11 - Nearly two years after stating that any administration official found to have been involved in leaking the name of an undercover C.I.A. officer would be fired, and assuring that Karl Rove and other senior aides to President Bush had nothing to do with the disclosure, the White House on Monday refused to answer any questions about new evidence of Mr. Rove's role in the matter.

With the White House silent, Democrats rushed in, demanding that the administration provide a full account of any involvement by Mr. Rove, one of the president's closest advisers, turning up the political heat in the case and leaving some Republicans worried about the possible effects on Mr. Bush's second-term agenda.

Senator Harry Reid of Nevada, the Democratic leader, cited Mr. Bush's statements about firing anyone involved in the leak and said, "I trust they will follow through on this pledge."

Senator Charles E. Schumer, Democrat of New York, said Mr. Rove, given his stature and the principles involved in the case, could not hide behind legal advice not to comment.

"The lesson of history for George Bush and Karl Rove is that the best way to help themselves is to bring out all the facts, on their own, quickly," Mr. Schumer said, citing the second-term scandals that have beset previous administrations.

So, are we to assume that the wheels fell off of the Great Tom DeLay Smear Campaign of '05...

I believe I saw that particular bandwagon last week. Rusting in a salvage yard, somewhere around Poughkeepsie...

Scott McClellan is perfect guy for the rope a dope strategy. He comes off with the perfect "deer in the headlights" look. Sometimes I wonder if those geniuses are just pushing the envelope a little too far in having this guy as press secretary.

It's big, I tell ya! Bigger 'n Watergate. Bigger 'n Teapot Dome. Bigger 'n Fannie Fox, the 900 FBI files, Whitewater and Chinese cash for defense secrets (not that we're saying those last three ever really happened). It's big, I tell ya. So big, it's gonna bring this administration down! An era of infamy. The destruction of the ever-growing conservative majority. It's all gonna be destroyed.

Then the publisher of the New York Times knelt down beside his desk...making sure the blinds were drawn, so no one could see him, and said, very softly (so no one nearby might hear him: Please...um, whomever I pray to, not that I really pray...let it happen this time, please? We just can't take it anymore. No matter what we do, whom we lie to, or whom we pander to, our power just keeps slip, slip, slipping away. So, please...okay, I'll say it...uh, er, God: Just take down Bush for us, and we'll call a moratorium on removing religious statements from the public square for...a whole year.

Thunderous voice from above: Would you be willing to give up abortion?

The publisher is thrilled; his prayer will be answered. Yes, he says, yes! You make sure Bush is humiliated, and hounded out of office, and the Republicans look like idiots, and of course we'll give up abortion. Then he asks: But for how long?

Pure thunder: Wrong answer!

And the NY Times Building is incinerated in a nanosecond.

LOL!!!

Without "comments" from Rove and/or the White House, the scumbags at the NY Times don't know how they are supposed to fashion their LIES. (Same old story.) There's something nagging at them deep inside and they just can't stop gnashing their teeth.

There will be "comments" alright - - once the bait has been devoured and the trap is sprung.
This is all too funny for words.

As usual, the NYT is lying. I saw the video tape of the President answering the question two years ago. He said that if someone in his administration was involved in the leak, he would "take care of it". He did not say they would be fired. Trying to pump this up into a embarrassment for the President and Karl Rove is what this is about, and they should be ashamed of themselves when we are at war and London was just blown up.

I want to see the storm get bigger, so the left falls harder when it blows up in their face. My take on identity of the "leaker" if they are ever found;

1) Wilson
2) A highly placed democrat or media personality that would be an embarrassment to the liberals if exposed. Someone's name who they hoped would never come up in this.
3) An unknown person who if exposed would have killed the issue because there was no political hay to be made out of it. It would have become the non story it really is. But the MSM has to keep the story going to make President Bush look bad.

Of course not. The NYT does not consider these terrorists as the enemy.

The WH should continue to refuse to comment on this, as long as the grand jury is still taking testimony. This has the added benefit of giving the MSM and other liberal hacks more rope with which to hang themselves.

A trap has been set for these idiots, and they're walking right into it. What fun.

Please Mr. President, STOP all the daily press briefings. They are nothing more than a 'GOT CHA' exercise anyway. These pimps of the election industry merely are trying to make public policy, without putting their name on the ballot. End the daily comedy show, PLEASE!
