EU laws on sale of vitamins 'valid'
This is London ^ | 12 July 2005

Controversial new European laws which could outlaw thousands of vitamin and mineral supplements were upheld by European Court judgesy.

The European Court of Justice rejected British health food industry claims that the proposed Food Supplements Directive, coming into force on August 1, breaches EU rules.

The surprise decision goes against an opinion delivered by the same court's advocate-general in April, advising that the rules should be scrapped because they contravene basic EU principles of "legal protection, legal certainty and sound administration".

The judges countered that the proposed arrangements, designed to tighten controls on the growing market in products sold under the health food heading, can go ahead as planned.

Health food companies have to submit natural remedies, vitamin supplements and mineral plant extracts - many of them in long-established regular use in a £300 million-a-year market in the UK - for approval and inclusion on a list of recognised food supplements.

The judges backed the move saying: "A 'positive list' system is appropriate for securing the free movement of food supplements and ensuring the protection of human health."

Why in the world whould the EU want to ban vitamins?

Its a part of the worldwide conspiracy by the pharmaceutical companies (no kidding!!) so that they can keep us sicker without a recourse of any alternative health treatment NOT being sold by them, for a huge cost of course.

If you read the list of "possible side effects" on any modern day drugs its enough to make you want NOT to take it at all. The cure seems worse than the disease; and not to mention the huge damm cost of the drugs as well.

It is about government control. The EU doesn’t allow “disparaging” remarks about anyone’s religions (at least it doesn’t allow any facts presented about one particular religion).

I have been following this for a long time, and writing numerous letters to our lawmakers to beg them to maintain our ability to purchase supplements in the US. It is the ultimate control, in MHO, to control someone’s ability to take care of themselves. It is also beautifully socialist. Tell the people the government must handle everything, approve everything, that they are just too stupid to take care of themselves in even the most basic way. I have read that Hitlery is very much interested in having such a ban here.

I also don’t doubt that this type of law doesn’t break any hearts in the pharmaceutical industry. Take my $10 supplement and charge $50 at least for it. In a socialist state the government would then have to pay for that, which would give them added leverage in imposing even more suffocating taxes on the working population. (In Europe the “working population” is the native people, as opposed to those that show up to feast at the government feed bag and recreate through rape, pillage and do-it-yourself bomb making kits).

It's called the Codex Alimentarius and will extend to ALL countries that are members of the WTO which includes the U.S. and Canada. More info can be found at:

Back in the early 1900's, people came down with illnesses related to vitamin deficiencies. Some of this was the result of food processing. For instance, the processing to produce white bread eliminates about 24 nutrients from the wheat. This resulted in food industry being required to add some nutrients back in. So they add back 3 to five viatmins and call is 'entriched'.

The food industry and the pharmacueticals would love to see vitamin research and the vitamin industry disappear. Direct competition, and thorn in the flesh. Follow the money.

The thing about the EU is that they do stuff all the time that there is no democratic involvement in. That's why there is such a huge backlash, because they're a freakin' oligrachy. Hardly any EU citizens wanted Turkey in the EU yet they tried to do it anyway. Hardly any EU citizens wants to impose this vitamin ban yet they do it anyway. BTW, this whole vitamin banning fits in perfectly with the whole negative population growth/sustainable development agenda, that being

Birth Control
Condoms vs Abstinence
Gay Lifestyle Promotion
Euthanasia
Socialized Medicine
Banning DDT
Abortion
War on Chritianity

It's all kind of spooky.

That question has already been answered, control and big pharma. My opinion is this, it's obvious "they" don't care about us or our health. Better we work our arses off and die young, that way "they" gain the most benefit with the least amount of payout. End of story.

These guys in the EU have as much liespeak in their vocabulary as does the American Democrat party. A law degree apparently doesn't stop someone from being Eurotrash.
