Ferndale police are searching for a couple posing as officers.
A man and woman posed as Ferndale police officers to enter a 61-year-old woman's home at about noon Monday, according to police. They told the woman they would need to search her home for a person wanted for stealing money, police said.
The couple were allowed inside, and directed the woman around her home "searching" for the alleged wanted person, police said. The woman was instructed to open drawers and pick up her mattress to look for the alleged stolen money, according to police.
The couple pretended to take notes while the woman searched her home, police said.
No items were reported stolen from the woman's home.
Police described the man as black, between 20 and 30 years old, about 6 feet tall, thin and with a dark complexion. The woman was described as black, between 25 and 30 years old, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, thin, with a dark complexion and shoulder-length straight, black hair, police said.
I guess she never heard of a warrant.
They get too trusting as they get older, sometimes.
This is one of the strangest stories I've read on here...and we all know that's saying something!
How weird...nothing stolen, she wasn't attacked...maybe they were "casing the joint" so to speak, planning to come back and rob her at some other time?
Seems like the most plausible explanation, anyway.
Posing as cops? Hmmmm....
;^)
