FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Posted on 07/12/2005 4:55:23 PM PDT by doctorhugo

Heading home today I chanced to tune in to a radio talk show and heard a caller voice her opinion on one of my pet peeve political subjects, The alleged Tyranny of the Majority. She and many left-wingers and ACLU supporters call and believe this tyranny to be the majority refusing to let the minority make the decisions for ALL of us. It is their ultimate corruption of OUR Constitution and the personal rights manifesto they espouse. They actually believe that the Constitution and Bill of Rights guarantees the Supreme Court the right to 'socially engineer' our society. They don't and won't say so, but in so many words that is the end result of what they stridently yelp about. My favorite example is,Can you spell M-A-D-A-L-Y-N M-U-R-R-A-Y O'-H-A-R-E?

The original of this text had been attributed to State Representative Mitchell Aye from GA. I have not verified that, but it is not that important. What is of great import is what a bit of well-placed sarcasm rooted in reality can say. I have added substantially, to what I think was the original version, and think it worthy of a serious reading.

THE BILL OF NON-RIGHTS

We the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to help everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid civil unrest, keep our Nation safe, promote positive behavior and secure the blessings of debt free liberty to ourselves and our posterity; hereby, try...one more time to ordain and establish some common sense guidelines for the terminally whiny, guilt-ridden, delusional and other pablum-puking, liberal bed-wetters.

We hold these truths to be self evident: that a whole lot of people are confused by the Bill of Rights and are so dumb they require a Bill of NON-Rights."

ARTICLE I: You do NOT have the right to a new car, big screen TV, or any other form of wealth. More power to you if you can legally acquire them, but noone is guaranteed anything in a free-market economy. And, should you, after all your best efforts, not become a roaring financial success, please refrain from supporting politicians who espouse 'redistributing the wealth' as the ultimate panacea. They are simply whoring for the easiest votes they can get.....YOURS!

ARTICLE II: You do NOT have the right to never be offended. This country is based on freedom, and that means freedom for everyone, not just you! You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, or use whatever legal form of expression you choose....just like everybody else .

ARTICLE III: You do NOT have the right to be free from harm. If you stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful, do not expect the tool manufacturer to make you and all your family independently wealthy. If you spill piping hot coffee on yourself, it's YOUR fault, not the provider of the coffee and the cup. Grow up and get responsible for the consequences of your own actions, including those of carelessness!

ARTICLE IV: You do NOT have the right to free food and housing. Americans are the most charitable people in the world and will gladly help anyone in need and do so daily, but we are quickly growing weary of subsidizing generation after generation of professional couch potatoes who, claiming "victim" status create nothing more than another generation of professional couch potatoes and shriek about welfare rights like the world owes them a living. We and the world grow weary of you. Get off your butts and get responsible for your own destiny!

ARTICLE V: You do NOT have the right to free health care. Of course if you're of the socialist persuasion and think that the "government' should be the employer of last resort and the provider of all your needs, break out a history book and check out how that little idea has worked out down through the years in many countries OR, better yet...head for France. They agree with you and with 10% unemployment and constantly tightrope-walking the edge of national bankrupcy, they'll welcome you with empty, open arms.

ARTICLE VI: You do NOT have the right to physically harm and/or kill other people. If you kidnap, rape, intentionally maim, or kill someone, don't be surprised if the rest of us want to see you fry in the electric chair and will be willing to stand in a long line to be the official puller of the switch of retribution.

ARTICLE VII: You do NOT have the right to the possessions of others. If you rob, cheat, or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens, don't be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you away. That's only a potential consequence of OUR responsibiity to guarantee YOUR right to a fair and speedy trial. However! Should you make the fatal error in judgement of trying to steal from one of us true believers of the "right to bear arms" you will have, by an act of your choosing, forfeited any right to any trial by any jury as it will no longer be of any relevance,...for YOU will cease to be!

ARTICLE VIII: You do NOT have the right to a job. All of us sure want you to have a job, and will gladly help you along in hard times, but we expect you to take advantage of the opportunities of education and vocational training laid before you to make yourself a useful and productive citizen, lest you become a parasitic burden on us.

ARTICLE IX: You do NOT have the right to happiness. Being an American means that you have the right to PURSUE happiness, which by the way, is a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an over abundance of idiotic laws created by those of you who were confused by the Bill of Rights. A simple caveat here...Should your pursuit of happiness be at the expense of others the end of your happiness trail shall become the road of many sorrows very quickly.

ARTICLE X: You do NOT have the right to expect this country to adopt your language. This is an English speaking country. We don't care where you are from, English is our "official" language. An ability to communicate in the native tongue of the country in which one chooses to settle and work and live and raise one's family is your obligation. We are willing to assist you in that effort. Should you be one who believes that is isn't FAIR to have to learn OUR language and you feel that we should accomodate all 193 countries of the world and have ALL forms and documents and newspapers and signs, etcetera available for display in as many languages....YOU are either a certifiable nutjob or an imbecile. You are NOT welcome here as we are currently overburdened with persons of that ilk already. Take a hike!

ARTICLE XI: You do NOT have the right to change or rewrite our country's history or heritage. This country was founded, based on an acknowledgement of a greater power. A stated precept of a belief in GOD. And, you are given the freedom to believe in any religion, any faith, or no faith at all...with no fear of persecution. The phrase IN GOD WE TRUST is part of our heritage and history, and if you are uncomfortable with it, reread ARTICLE II, dummy.

If you agree, share this with a family member or friend. No, you don't have to, and nothing tragic will befall you if you don't. It's just that it's about time good old common sense is allowed to flourish. Concerned people of the United States speak out because if you don't, others will and you may NOT like what they are doing, but it may be TOO LATE.......................

It would be one thing if they worried about the Tyranny of the Majority on a consistent basis, but they don't give it the slightest thought when the 'Rats are the majority. It's just typical leftist tactics: whatever works for their cause.

"the majority refusing to let the minority make the decisions for ALL of us"

Even when liberals lose elections across-the-board (as they did in 2004) they still expect to rule.

They want no consequences to losing elections........that is, when THEY lose them.

they still expect to rule.

And they do...

Nofziger Lyn

These things I believe: That government should butt out. That freedom is our most precious commodity and if we are not eternally vigilant, government will take it all away. That individual freedom demands individual responsibility. That government is not a necessary good but an unavoidable evil. That the executive branch has grown too strong, the judicial branch too arrogant and the legislative branch too stupid. That political parties have become close to meaningless. That government should work to insure the rights of the individual, not plot to take them away. That government should provide for the national defense and work to insure domestic tranquillity. That foreign trade should be fair rather than free. That America should be wary of foreign entanglements. That the tree of liberty needs to be watered from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. That guns do more than protect us from criminals; more importantly, they protect us from the ongoing threat of government. That states are the bulwark of our freedom. That states should have the right to secede from the Union. That once a year we should hang someone in government as an example to his fellows.

2006. Ballot Box. See you there.

I have a little sign I made up on a sheet of white construction paper and it says in big, black MagicMarker...." YOU LOST DUMMY! DEAL WITH IT."
I made it up in response to the assortment of whiny bumper stickers I see RATS display all over. As I pass a demon-RAT with a professional whining bumper sticker I give him/her a toot, hold up my sign, laugh and move on. It drives them looney! If it were me, I'd be embarassed when somebody accused me of being a 'whiner', but, as I always say,...With RATS they are almost genetically predisposed to whining as their collective manner of expression so we shouldn't expect any better from them.

All one need do is to listen to the daily media rants by RATS like Pelosi, Schumer, Boxer, Kennedy, Byrd and others ad nauseum.

Nice to see you quote Lyn Nofzinger. Please take note of the line which states....
"That individual freedom demands individual responsibility".

You RATS wouldn't know what the word "responsibility" means; especially, since you allowed the Socialists to take over and are steering from the left side of the road. You are always casting yourselves as victims. Woe is we! The big, bad RHINOS stole two elections in a row from us...Boo hoo hoo.

Responsibility, my foot!

Thanks Doc...

While, I don't think you were calling *me* a RAT, just to clear the record, I ain't no steekin' RAT.. And I ain't no steekin' *sheep* either. Sometimes, it's hard to tell the difference though.. :)

In my haste to respond I, inadvertently and excitedly, used "you". HA! The juices got flowing.... A thousand pardons for besmirching you with such disdain.

As Shakey Willie of Avon said 'To be or not to be a DemonRAT. It's not a qvestion, bubbala!"
