Reports of Rove as CIA leak should engender outrage
The Columbia, Missouri Daily Tribune ^ | Wednesday, July 13, 2005 | Michael Young

Posted on 07/13/2005 12:59:22 PM PDT by rface

Editor, the Tribune:

From a few reports, I have heard Karl Rove is the one who is mentioned in the Time magazine reporter’s notes. If he is the one who retaliated against the CIA agent by leaking her name to the press, he should be immediately fired, arrested and prosecuted.

Where is the outraged press? The press and the Republican Party repeatedly attacked and prosecuted former President Bill Clinton for lying about a consensual sex act that had no direct effect on any American, and yet the Bush administration lied to all of Americans about the reason for the Iraq war. This lie has cost Americans more than $150 billion of our tax dollars and over 1,500 American lives and counting.

We know Rove has been in charge of the dirty politics and smear campaigns against Bush’s opponents for many years, dating back to the Texas election in which he smeared Anne Richards. He smeared Sen. John McCain and his family in the South Carolina primary. He was in charge when his party attacked John Kerry, who is an American war hero! Where is the outrage?

Now we hear he has illegally leaked information to Robert Novak, a reporter for the right-wing agenda, about the wife of a former U.S. ambassador, Joseph Wilson. Wilson questioned the Bush case for the war against Iraq, and Rove retaliated by telling the press that Wilson’s wife was an undercover CIA agent, therefore jeopardizing her safety and future career. Where is the outraged press?

Except that the terrorists (sorry BBC) were plotting and planning while Bill was having 'fun' with Monica.

Where is the outraged press?

A) Still trying to figure out what "double super secret background" means.

B) Going to jail to hide their role in creating the "leak."

Clinton lied "under oath" about sexual harrassment with a subordinate.

Wilson lied about who sent him to Niger.

Rove never lied, named, or outed the CIA liar.

I knew that John Kerry was a war hero. He said so every 5 minutes.

He neglected to mention that at the end of his war, he had sided with the enemy.

Michael Medved has Ted Rall on the radio as a guest right now bringing up this dreck.

Mr. Young has evidently not been allowed out of his playpen for the last two weeks. Unfortunately for him, shrieks of outrage aren't going to cut it on this one.

He must listen to NPR. They just reported that Rove is the target of the investigation, but according to the Special Prosecutor Rove is not. But who wopuld know better, the S.P. that's in the grand jury room or NPR which has no political bias?,

Wel... I heard the original leak, long before Cooper talked to Rove was from Dem staffers on the Intelligence Committee. That's how Coop knew what questions to ask.

Where's the outrage?

He was in charge when his party attacked John Kerry, who is an American war hero zero!

I caught an obviously inadvertant typo on the part of the writer here. Fixed it right up.

The used to toss "complimentary" papers in my yard, I complained, and they still kept doing it.....I use them to keep the garage floor clean when I change the oil in the car.

If you want a real treat Michael Medveds guest is Ted Rall. Rall is trying to portray Plame as running around in the mountains of Tora Bora fighting terrorists while the evil Karl Rove is trying to get her killed.

A resounding second to this post. The nickname for the paper is THE MANURIAN. A sickening piece of liberal trash put together by students manipulated by liberal professors. But hey, they are sensitive and diverse, except when it comes to opinion.

Benedict Arnold was a hero to both sides of his war as well.

Nothing to be proud of.

John Kerry was a genuine traitor (who partnered with people who plotted to assassinate elected congressmen in America) and what Rove did does not match this in any way.

It is crazy hearing Ted Rall get his thong up too tight over this. I heard him speak (along with other editorial cartoonists) and he was a lone voice on the left calling for Clinton's impeachment over lying under oath. Now he seems to think that wasn't so bad. I don't expect him to be consistent. He is really a lightweight hater though. (just relaying some of what I am hearing on the radio right now, really unrelated to the first part of this post which is a reply).

Don't tell me, let me guess. The Columbia News Herald "letters to the editor" section is written by Phil Hendrie, right?

Sheepish apology: sorry I was referring to the other piece of liberal trash in Columbia, THE MISSOURIAN.
