Police in New York will board city buses and subway trains and teach passengers how to recognise suicide bombers, officials said on Thursday in the wake of the deadly blasts blamed on such bombers in London.

"People could be told to look out for bulky clothing in warmer weather, or people repeatedly returning to a package," said Police Department spokesman Paul Browne.

"When you catch a potential terrorist, he doesn't have a map of a cornfield, he has a map of New York City or a building," the mayor [Bloomberg] said.

So how exactly can you tell what religion a man follows, by looking at him?
It is my understanding that anyone can become a Muslim simply by declaring Allah is the only god and following the five pillars of faith. That might be hard to spot on the subway, unless you see him giving alms to a beggar.

You meant to say, the means to defend themselves. Or are you talking about London, where indeed you don't have the right to self-defense?
Interestingly enough, I met the doctor that was one of the people that tackled him on that flight, and then drugged him senseless.
They were coming to the Club Med in Port Saint Lucie Florida for their vaction, and I was dining there.
At Club Med, they have large tables, and many people are seated together to promote social interaction.
This was before France sold us out and I boycotted all things French.
He was bald, wore glasses, was pretty fat, and he didn't look like the type of guy who would go man to man with a determined terrorist.
When I pointed out that it was pretty darn bold to act, he simply said:
"What else could we do? Die?"
I'll never forget it.
Bottom line -- the United States are still stigmatized by the memory of Manzanar and other such internment camps in WWII. We now bend over backwards to avoid any comparison to that (admittedly) unfortunate chapter in our nation's history. But now, any talk of doing ANYTHING against a visually identifiable ethnic group calls out the P.C. police. There - I've said it...SSZ
