Bonk? This is a game for you? Sounds like you may want to find another term. Speaking as a woman, NOBODY bonks me!
Hormonal birth control simulates pregnancy. Most women have decreased libido during pregnancy. QED.
There are other methods that work about as well. According to my daughter's doctor, there is some protection against ovarian cancer in taking the pill as a young woman.
There's also terrific protection against breast cancer from having a full-term pregnancy before age 25. Did your daughter's doctor mention that?
17 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births is the approximate rate for the US. Which translates to 34 out of 200,000, or about eleven times the risk from the patch, which is given at 3 deaths per 200,000 cases in the article above. FYI ;)
Why are you so hostile? Do you think sex is evil?
But his post is such a beautiful exposition of what artificial contraception does to a relationship. It reduces sex, in the man's eyes, to something the woman is expected to provide for him on a 24/7 basis ... while, in the woman's eyes, it turns sex in to something she can use as a weapon to control him. Instead of being an expression of love, it's a tool for control and a bargaining chip in the relationship.
And you know how I know that? Because I was there, and I did that. It nearly wrecked my marriage.
My wife and I both agree that tossing the contraception was the smartest move we ever made. That was almost ten years ago, and our marriage is the best it's ever been.
Well, maybe no one bonks you. But seeing that there are about 10,000 births in the US each day, I gotta conclude that someone, somewhere is bonking with abandon.
It only stands to reason..
It really didn't occur to me that someone could actually make this thread relate to Mexicans. You should have that Myopia looked at!
I'm not hostile.
Sex outside marriage is tremendously evil. For one thing, it's a factor in most of the 40+ million abortions in this country since 1973.
Sex inside marriage and open to life, the way God meant it, is wonderful, beautiful, and holy. (My wife agrees with me, BTW.)
With Ortho Evra you were warned about "stroke, heart attack, liver damage, uterine bleeding" and on and on. What woman in their right mind would risk that just so their guy didn't have to wear a condom?
On the other hand, natural family planning is 99% effective, and abstinence is 100% effective, and both of them have death rates of exactly 0.
I am a big believer in Natural Family Planning when in your fertile years. We use barrier methods during those unsafe times (not quite 100% NFP but I will not use hormones.) It's great to understand it for when you are trying to do the opposite- make a baby. It's a lot faster getting pregnant when you know when to do it.
Monogamy & vasectomy.
We're, in a certain sense, eating our seed corn. We're artificially boosting our standard of living for now, by foregoing the most important task of all: producing the next generation.
I've literally had a guy on this website tell me that he'd rather have a new flat-screen TV than a child. Of course, he blathers about his "liberty" and his "rights", but a country that doesn't bother to reproduce itself won't be free for long, because it won't even continue to exist.
This was an excellent segment and I would recommend staying up late to watch it or get the TIVO or whatever up and running.

Yes it is. EVERY AMERICAN SHOULD SEE IT -- and learn what Washington is doing TO our country. And sadly, this one has the Bush Family written all over it. The cover-up memo to the Border Patrol is the smoking gun. Nice try GWB, but you have been finally nailed.
So a woman should have a child before age 25 for her health?
It really didn't occur to me that someone could actually make this thread relate to Mexicans.

Ah, but you are surrounded by creative minds -- great idea that would sure ease the increasing load on the welfare rolls ---
**Artificial birth control is generally harmful.**
My wife and I agree.
She was looking over my shoulder as I scanned the threads and insisted I stop so we could read this one.
I've often wondered how many ovarian/breast problems are caused by the pill. Are the hormone/chemical alterations in the woman somewhat absorbed by the man? Is there a possible connection between that and some erectile dysfuction and/or prostate problems?
We are not Catholic, weren't even very religious almost 27 years ago when we got married. My wife refused to take the pill, not trusting the altering of her natural systems. I learned real fast to develop control, and still please her. In doing so, we became very well timed. After a year and a half we decided to try for children. In a couple months she was pregnant. In four years we had 2 boys. Decided that was enough, and have continued our usual method for the past 21 years. She's happy. I'm happy. And we're both healthy. End of story.
These stats are a little dated, but it should dispel some of the common myths concerning welfare and Hispanics.

Percentage of welfare families with:
