Oprah Fan Club has Nobel Goal
The Washington Times ^ | 7-6-05 | Amy Doolittle

A local group has organized a petition drive to nominate television talk show host Oprah Winfrey for the Nobel Peace Prize next year. About 10 District-area members of the unofficial Oprah Winfrey for the Nobel Peace Prize Fan Club say Miss Winfrey's humanitarian work, generous giving and "high fashion" makes her worthy of such an honor. "This is something that's been inspired by God," said Rocky Twyman, 56, a devoted Oprah fan from Rockville who is leading the petition drive. "It's a grass-roots campaign in its very beginning stages." Yesterday, Mr. Twyman and the group canvassed the area around the Friendship Heights Metro station in Northwest to collect enough signatures that they hope will result in Miss Winfrey's nomination. Mr. Twyman and the other fan club members say Miss Winfrey deserves the award because of her willingness to devote large sums of her own money to international aid work. Miss Winfrey's charities include Oprah's Angel Network, which helps poverty-stricken children worldwide. She recently donated $1 million to the U.S. Dream Academy Inc., a Maryland-based organization that provides emotional and educational support for children whose parents are incarcerated. Miss Winfrey, her spokesman and a spokesman for the Nobel Peace Prize did not return telephone calls for comment yesterday. Miss Winfrey was brought up in Mississippi and worked as a television news anchor in Baltimore in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Her daily television talk show draws about 6 million viewers a week. Mr. Twyman, who owns a public-relations firm, said he felt inspired by God to start his fan club and petition drive during a May 24 dinner at which Miss Winfrey spoke. The dinner was held in honor of Miss Winfrey's donation to the Dream Academy.

I wouldn't say she's Nobel level, but she has done a lot of good.

OTOH, with terrorists like Arafat getting it, she might just have a chance.

Oprah has brought freedom and democracy to Iraq and to Afghanistan. She got Syrian troops out of Lebanon. She got Libya to walk away from WMD development. She has helped Egypt move closer to democratic elections.

Oh, wait a minute ... she isn't the one who did all that ...

Good grief. Some people seem to have made Oprah their 'god'. They don't have much of a standard for godhood.

I think that we should get Jim Robinson nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize. "Nobel Prize nominee" has a nice ring to it. I'm serious by the way, I don't think it is that hard. If we draft a letter of nomination, and sign it from a thousand or more Freepers, he's a nominee- Right?

Not in my book. Sorry. She's a pablum-pushing narcissist who feeds pablum-consuming narcissists with a lot of superficial new-age tinged nonsense.

Not only that but she is a classist and a racist.

If Arafat, Lee Duc Tho, and Jimmy Carter can win it, Opra can.

Like what, exactly?

And let's exclude mere checkwriting to nonprofits, since (1) she donates a pretty small percentage of her tens of millions in income to charities and (2) not all "charities" actually do good - many have sinister agendas.

Oprah Fan Club has Nobel Goal

Oddly enough, the Slim Whitman fan club has the exact same goal.

And, of course, Winfrey's DELIGHTFUL OXYGEN NETWORK -- which airs nearly non-stop shows featuring male and female homosexual activity and male-female soft porn -- CLEARLY puts her at the front of the line for the Nobel.
It also places her high in the list of MY favorites for "HYPOCRIT OF THE DECADE."
Can you say "Change Agent?"

She and Phil Donahue made daytime talk sleazy back in the late 1980's-early 1990's.

She was a precurser to Springer. She had garbage like "I slept with my best friends dad", or other perversions, dressed up to be 'serious issues'.

Oprah has been a blight on television and has lowered standards sharply. She profited from this scum-peddling.

That settles it, Harpo'crites are world class ditz's..
But Oprah is not a ditz. She knows that she is parasiteing the ditz's.. Most democrat and RINO women are the ditz's.. She knows its a thin veneer that separate democrat and RINO women.. The democrat and RINO MEN.?.. well they are ditz's too.. The rise and fall of Harpo'crites show whether America politically is SICK, or Healthy..

Oprah is America's Ditz'o'meter.. thats worth something but not the Nobel Prize.. Oprah is worthy of more than that. Only one thing dumber than an american ditz. Thats a Swedish ditz..

Once they gave it to Arafat it became worthless. We might as well give it to Paris Hilton for her civic contributions to mankind.
