Osama WHO ???
I just checked the FBIs Rewards For Justice page: There is still a $25 million bounty for his arrest-with another $2 million offered by the Airline Pilots Association.
(Heres the reference for those who insist on citations.)
http://www.fbi.gov/mostwant/topten/fugitives/laden.htm
Thats $27 million dollars-for somebody who isnt worth two cents to us dead or alive !
The very existence of this reward has its roots in our Criminal Rendition program and thats dead wrong.
Osama is a terrorist, not someone who robs banks and Post Offices and he should be dealt with accordingly.
That 27 million dollar reward tells the Arab world differently.
It makes him a mythic figure-to be cherished, protected, and followed.
It also tells the Arab world we might get desperate enough to up the ante a few extra mil so why not wait and see what happens ?
I suggest we have a Going out of Business sale on Osama and the rest of his Islamist merrymen.
Todays reward is $ 27 million but next week, the offer drops to $ 20 million ; $ 13 million the week after that. Still want to hang on to him ?
Fine ! Wait another week, and well give you $ 6 million.
Zip; Zero; Nada after that.
After that its Osama WHO ???
Oh, him. Well, if we run across him, well give him a burst or so, but otherwise, hes all yours.
Keep him or kill him : Its all the same to us.
I don't get your reasoning. The rewards brought about the death of Uday and Quasay. I don't see the problem.
I think part of the problem is that the reward is too high. You go to Pakistan or Afghanistan, expecially back in 2001, and they can't understand a $27 million reward. It's beyond their comprehension.
We should have offered $1,000, 10 camels and a wife. We'd have had the SOB within the week.
But they already have camels and wives.
They're one and the same, in fact.
Rod, the poster is dated 1999. That should tell us how effective the concept of "rendition" has been.
If, on other hand, Osama's friends see the reward keeps decreasing, they are more apt to turn him over while he's worth something.
We really don't need or want the SOB anyway. What he organized is running quite nicely on its own,Lord help us !
If we run across him-Boom ! One less-but only one.
