Maybe this will start something, but only a split in Islam will result in the radical being kicked out of Islam. Nothing less is real reform. And there are far too many Muslims who want to wait and see who is going to be on top when the dust settles.
Having watched films of what goes on the the madrasses (Koranic schools) I think that the problem is much more fundamental (pun intended) than that. When you see dozens of boys rocking back and forth while reciting Koranic verse I am very disturbed. It is a soulless way to indoctrinate someone into a way of thinking, dry, boring, relentless, devoid of culture. It is not that the Arabic world is devoid of culture, not at all, but the Koran, taught that way sure leaves out all of the richness of human life. No wonder they prepare kids to become suicide bombers.
