It's time to eliminate causes of terror (Kinda Joke?)
Realclearpolitics.com ^ | Imam Mohammad Ali Elahi

The bloody attack on July 7 in London was a warning to the world to wake up against the evil of terrorism in all its forms.

We have been hearing the cries of innocent victims of terrorism in so many countries, New York City, Karachi, Madrid, Beirut, Bosnia, Jakarta, Israel, Palestine and now London.

Iraq is suffering from the sickness of suicide bombings every day. In 150 major terrorist attacks in the last 3 months, 2,400 Iraqis died and thousands more were wounded or handicapped. Mainstream Muslims helplessly find themselves as the main victims of terrorism.

We still grieve the murder of Imam Ali in 661 A.D. while he was doing his morning prayer in Kufa, Iraq. Ali, the Prophet Mohammed's cousin, son-in-law and closest disciple, the first man to ever declare his faith in Islam, was killed by a religious extremist as an infidel.

Last Monday, my community held a prayer service for the 8,000 Muslims who were slaughtered by Bosnian Serbs in 1995 in the worst European mass murder since World War II. Shedding tears, condemning the perpetrators and praying for the innocent lost lives are calls from our conscience, but God gave us the gift of intellect to identify and eliminate the evils that cause these catastrophes.

We, the imams of the Michigan mosques, gathered in Dearborn last week to condemn the recent crime in London and to announce anything harmful to human society is forbidden in Islam. We want everybody to know that al-Qaida is not a spokesman for the 1.2 billion peace-loving Muslims of the world.

We are sick and tired of being called kafirs (infidels) by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, and "us" and "them" by some of our Christian neighbors, while in Europe our mosques and innocent communities have become the targets of a blind backlash. To save the world from the nightmare of extremism, we all must open our hearts and work together through more interfaith efforts and social education.

Communities can't win the war against terrorism without the government's help.

The first question is, how Iraq despite our invasion and our huge military presence became a training center for so-called jihadists, and how the British became bombers? Where do the terrorists get their money and weapons from? Is it true that wealthy people from some Persian Gulf countries have sent hundreds of millions of dollars to al-Qaida in Iraq?

The current issue of Time magazine quotes Sir Ivor Roberts, Britain's ambassador to Italy, as saying "the best recruiting sergeant" for al-Qaida was none other than President George W. Bush.

Some unthoughtful words by the president and some irresponsible statements by Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld -- combined with the scandals at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq and the Guantanamo detention center -- helped al-Qaida recruit more extremists to its army.

To win the war against terror, force alone is not enough. Honesty and openness come first. The double standard on democracy and human rights doesn't help.

As long as Jews can immigrate to Israel by the tens of thousands each year while Palestinians stay hungry and homeless, I am afraid this will contribute to the violence in the Middle East and elsewhere.

It is time for all of us to take a stand against terrorism and eliminate its causes.

Too many delusions to comment on, so here's just one:

The terrorists in Iraq are from Saudi, Syria, Yemen, and other Arab countries. They are attacking the Iraqi people including the 24 little children murdered by a "brave jihadi martyr" last week. These despicable cretins learn their lessons elsewhere, not in Iraq.

The Brit bombers were likewise trained in their Satanic evil by Pakistani madrassas, and not Iraq.

The ugly Beslan child-murderers were trained in Chechnya and elsewhere, not in Iraq.

Iraq has zero to do with the utterly unspeakable evil propagated by the death cult called Islam.

al Qaeda had a large presence in Iraq while Saddam was in power. The Iraqi people are not against the invasion or the overthrow of Saddam. The "insurgents" in Iraq are foreign fighters sent by middle eastern dictators who fear for their own power if freedom in Iraq succeeds. As for the "British" bombers, they too are transplanted jihadists.

Where do the terrorists get their money and weapons from?

Terrorists get their money to finance their activities from charity scams that the rank-and-file muslims faithfully give their money to. Muslims have it beat into their heads that they have to give whatever they can to "charity", and they do so without fail, even they can only afford to give pennies. We have a situation where 1.5 billion people are giving a percentage of their wages to al Qaeda, Hamas, and Islamic Jihad through charity scams.

Is it true that wealthy people from some Persian Gulf countries have sent hundreds of millions of dollars to al-Qaida in Iraq?

I don't know, but the 1.5 billion rank-and-file muslims that give their pennies to charity scams for distribution to al Qaeda & Co. are a much bigger threat.

Do you have any other questions, Habib?

If Crime-Warner said it, it's gotta be true. /sarcasm

So how does Mr. Imam explain the exponential rise in terrorism during the Jimmuh Karter administration?

You've got the creed down pretty well. All you need now is a dirty nightshirt, a diaper, and a goat.

"We have a situation where 1.5 billion people are giving a percentage of their wages to al Qaeda, Hamas, and Islamic Jihad through charity scams."

Wow, I never made the link before. Giving to charity is one of the "must do's" in islam, like praying 5x a day, or the pilgrimage to Mecca.

It's no wonder then that all the jihad fund-raising is through "charity" - the lie serves a double purpose. It keeps the government out, and it keeps the money coming in.

It's no joke, I couldn't believe it when I read it as well. This stupid muslim is blaming our president and the Jews for what is happening in Iraq.

If you ask me, this bozo and the rest of his muslim friends ought to be sent back to the middle east on the first tug boat leaving New York harbor.

Translation from Islamic Fellow Traveler speak" "Well the terrorists are bad people but it the West fault for making them be terrorists. See during the Cold War you supported oppressive mid eastern regimes so the terrorists started to hate you. Then when you liberated Iraq from a murderous, oppressive regime, the terrorists REALLY started to hate you".

No, as anyone who bothered to do an iota of research can tell you, the POLITICAL aspects of the West are only a part of what the Islamic Terrorists hate about the West. The real root cause of Terrorism is the religious extremism of the terrorists. In their world view, the Western lifestyle, progressive, permissive and tolerant is really dangerous to their religious values. They see the West corrupting Muslims away from their extremely puritanical view of a "perfect" society. When supposed "Spokespeople" for "peaceful Islam" refuse to address this fact and instead try to use the terrorists attacks as a platform to spew forth their own political agenda. The Imams would be better off saying nothing rather then spewing forth this sort of tripe where they weakly condemn the terrorists in a paragraph then spent the bulk of their article re-spewing forth the political propaganda of the terrorists.

Since the Hysteric Left consistently refuses to deal with reality in the War on Terror, here yet again is WHY we are in Iraq.

In the war on Terrorism, we have a hidden foe, spread
out across a geographically diverse area, with covert sources of supply. Since we cannot go everywhere they hide out, we need to draw them out of hiding into a
kill zone. Iraq is that kill zone. That is the true brilliance of the Iraq strategy. We draw the terrorists out of their world wide hiding places onto a
battlefield they have to fight on for political reasons (The "Holy" soil of the Arabian peninsula) where they have to pit their weakest ability (Conventional Military combat power) against our greatest strength (ability to call down unbelievable amounts of firepower) where they will primarily have to fight other forces (the Iraqi Security forces) in a battlefield that is hostile to guerrilla warfare. (Iraqi-mostly open terrain as opposed to guerrilla friendly areas like the mountains of Afghanistan or the jungles of SE Asia).
