Time Magazine Refuses To Deny Mandy Grunwald’s Involvement in Rove/Plame Controversy (Vanity)
Self ^ | 7/17/05 | Self

Posted on 07/17/2005 6:49:22 PM PDT by FreedomSurge

Last week I sent the following e-mails to Time Magazine. They have refused to reply and therefore I believe they are hiding the truth.

Thu, 14 Jul 2005 15:27:52 -0700 (PDT) ty_trippet@timeinc.com

1. Do you have written assurance Matt Cooper did not receive strategic or any other type of advise from his wife and Clinton adviser, Mandy Grunwald, concerning the handling of the Plame/Rove controversy?

2. Why don't you disclose the relationship between Mandy Grunwald and Matt Cooper on any Cooper article concerning politics?

3. Was Miss Grunwald or her father instrumental in Matt Cooper obtaining a job at Time Magazine?

Your cooperation is appreciated.

I see you have refused to answer my previous email.

Has Clinton adviser/Democrat strategist Mandy Grunwald given any advise to Time Magazine or any of the Time Magazine employees involved in the Rove/Plame affair on how to handle the affair?

I am on a deadline. Please reply at your earliest convenience.

Cast of characters:

Matt Cooper, Time Magazine Reporter; Husband of Mandy Grunwald:

Matthew Cooper joined TIME as Deputy Washington Bureau Chief in July 1999. Previously, Cooper was Deputy Washington Bureau Chief and National Correspondent for Newsweek. He joined the magazine as Deputy National Bureau Chief and National Correspondent in August, 1996. His coverage of national affairs included the Clinton scandals, the impeachment trial, Newt Gingrich's resignation and the ensuing power squabble in the GOP, the aborted tobacco settlement, U.S.-Iraq relations, and the upcoming 2000 presidential campaign.

Prior to Newsweek, Cooper was a senior editor at The New Republic, where he wrote the acclaimed "White House Watch" column. He profiled many political insiders. Previously, Cooper was a White House correspondent for U.S. News & World Report, where he covered Clinton's 1992 presidential campaign. He also served as the magazine's Atlanta Bureau Chief. Cooper was also an editor at The Washington Monthly, where he wrote and edited articles on culture and politics. From 1986 to 1987, he was a Washington correspondent for Thompson Newspapers, and from 1984 to 1986, Cooper served as a writer and researcher at the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights.

Cooper moonlights as a stand-up comedian, and in November 1998 was named "Washington's Funniest Celebrity" after an evening of comedy at Washington's Improv. His Clinton impersonation has been praised by Vanity Fair and New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd praised him for an ability to "spin whimsy out of smarmy," proclaiming, "I want to be more like Matt Cooper."

Mandy Grunwald, Clinton advisor, Wellstone advisor, wife of Matt Cooper:

Mandy Grunwald was not only media adviser and director of advertising for the 1992 Clinton-Gore campaign, but later designed strategy and ads for Clinton's New York Senate campaign in 2000. She was also an adviser to the Wellstone campaign

She was also daughter of Henry Grunwald.

Henry Grunwald:

Time magazine editor who led the publication's shift from conservatism to a more leftist view.

I send an email to Time accusing them of being part of a conspiracy with the Queen of England and the Catholic Church to alter our brain waves through the floridation of water.

But the bastards refused to reply.

Guess that confirms that my theory is correct.

So remember: Only use bottled water.

Eek! Her nose is big enough to be shared by a family of four. I certainly hope Mr. Cooper keeps a supply of paper grocery bags next to the bed.

I saw a wife on tv once whose husband covered her face with Playboy centerfolds whenever they got intimate.

Dude.

"You may think it is unfair, but I am just using their playbook."

I don't think it's "unfair" at all, not in the least. I was just questioning the logic linkage--they refuse to answer, therefore Mandy Grunwald must be "involved" (by the way: I think she IS involved!).

And I think it is an incredibly valid connection, that needs examined. It may be overcomplicated (just musing here). Why does it have to be, Time refused? Why can't it be straight on? As in, "Cooper's Wife Longtime Demo Op/ Advisor On Hillary's 2008 Pres Election Team."

Screw Time, yank Hillary into it--then they have to deny, all kinds of things, and you will probably muddy the waters. At any rate, I think that would put them on the defense, and shift the dynamics.

Just musing, didn't mean to overcriticize. Like I said: heart and mind in the right place, and I'm there with you.

"By the way, do you know Hillary Clinton threw a baby shower for Cooper child?"

I'm pretty sure you must be thinking of the new baby scene at the end of "Rosemary's Baby." It's a common mistake.

"It is your forum, you are free to pull the post, I will not be insulted."

I didn't know that, but I wouldn't dream of doing it. It's engendering good reactions, and causing others (me) to come up with ideas. As for not being insulted...don't sell yourself short. It's a good point (letting everybody know who his wife is), and if anyone would want to pull it, you should be insulted.

There is no logical nexus between the Queen of England and fluoridation of water.

Are you claiming there is no logical nexus between Matt Cooper, husband of Hillary Clinton's close friend Mandy Grunwald, and Mandy Grunwald, wife of Time Magazine reporter Matt Cooper.

Do you deny the probability that Matt Cooper was directed by Dem party hack Mandy Grunwald to report/tesitfy on the Rove/Plame affair as he did?

Rush has mentioned that Mandy and Matt are man and wife...made a specific point of it on Thurs. or Fri., I think, but it does bear repeating. Haven't heard Sean's program this week, so don't know about a mention there.

Both guys read their email.

Could someone post for me the link that shows the four points of the law about letting out a "covert" agent's identity? I need it to prove a point.

Freedom, what an interesting question you ask the editors of Time!

Has Clinton adviser...Grunwald given any advise to Time Magazine [on] the Rove/Plame affair...?

I suspect very strongly that Hillary Rodham could be playing a large part in this.

It's her M.O.

Hillary "made her bones" taking down a Republican president (Nixon), and she's genetically constrained to try to do it again.

.

Yes, you're right. It all goes back to her childhood and her relationship with her demanding father.

I guess he should not have given her a toaster and a radio as bath toys when she was five.

;-)

More context, from Haloscan

Here is the Connection to Watergate (from The Daily Belch):

Karl Rove is accused by at least the Liberal media of disclosing the identity of a CIA operative to several newsreporters, including Matt Cooper.

Matt Cooper wrote for several rags before becoming an editor for The Washington Monthly and then the Atlanta Bureau Chief for U.S. News & World Report in the 1980s. Cooper covered the White House and President Clinton from 1993 to 1995 for U.S. News & World Report. In 1995 and 1996, he wrote the "White House Watch" column for The New Republic, and he later served as a National Correspondent for Newsweek from 1996 until 1999. Cooper moonlights as a stand-up comedian and was named "Washington's Funniest Celebrity" in 1998. In 1999, he leaves Newseek for TIME, where he becomes Deputy Washington Bureau Chief. He became TIME’s White House correspondent in June 2003.

In 1997, Matt Cooper married Mandy Grunwald.

Mandy Grunwald, was a key consultant in the 1992 campaign Bill Clinton Presidential. In addition to crafting a strategy of bypassing the normal media outlets and booking Bill Clinton on forums such as the Arsenio Hall Show. She was effectively banished from the West Wing in 1994, after that year's twin disasters of the failed health care reform proposal and the Republican takeover of Congress. She reappeared to help Hillary Clinton get elected to the US Senate by producing the ads "I Love New York" and "Trust Me" and remains a friend of Hillary’s. Mandy’s currently is working on Hillary’s Senate Re-election team.

Mandy Grunwald is the daughter of Henry Grunwald.

Henry Grunwald (who died in February of this year at the age of 82), retired as editor in chief of Time Magazine, and later became U.S. ambassador to Austria.

As managing editor of Time, Henry Grunwald directed coverage of ...

you guessed it...

Watergate.

Henry Grenwald personally wrote the TIME editorial calling for President Richard Nixon to resign.

There you have it. Rovegate.

FreedomSurge, don't worry about BCrago66. His only purpose on this forum appears to be having fun attacking other FReepers. A long list of people here realize that he has added absolutely nothing of value to the forum.

Although he has claimed that he is not generally hostile, HERE ARE SOME EXAMPLES FOR YOUR ENJOYMENT. Without ever having attacked him, he launched on me a few days ago. I think he is supposed to be on our side, but I have not yet found a FReeper acknowledging that he has ever joined any action with anyone here. It is a shame he doesn't use his hostility on the other side. Or, is he the other side?
