Dean falls flat in the Hamptons (Plutocrats stay away from Howard-hosted fund-raiser.)
New York Magazine ^ | July 18-25 | Greg Sargent

Where are the Hamptons Deaniacs? Some of New York’s wealthiest Dem contributors were no-shows at a $5,000-per-couple Amagansett DNC fund-raiser Howard Dean hosted at the home of Margo and Robert Alexander on July 9—prompting worries that the donor elite are shutting their wallets to protest Dean’s shoot-from-the-lip party leadership. Sources say big-shot supporters Hassan Nemazee, Robert Zimmerman, Carl Spielvogel, and Barbaralee Diamonstein-Spielvogel played hooky. “Dean grew up in the Hamptons, and it was his first time back as chair, so he should have filled the room,” concedes a DNC official. “DNC staffers were really disappointed. It spoke to the lack of confidence in Dean among the donor leadership.” DNC spokesperson Karen Finney responds, “It was wonderfully successful and gave the governor a chance to really listen to what people had to say. Unfortunately, due to other plans, those folks couldn’t attend."—

If the Democrat Party can not fund-raise, it is spent as a force. Much the money that used to go to the Donks now goes either to MoveOn.org or straight to Hillary!. These two dwarf the DNC in fund-raising power.

The Clintons have destroyed the Democrat Party. For that, we owe them a debt of gratitude. With this new effort by Hillary! to monopolize the money, the destruction continues.

Now if they had served pork and beans everybody that showed up could have had a rip roaring good time with the Dean yell.

The woman in grey is the former Governor of Texas, Ann Richards, who was most famous for her 1992 DNC speech when she insulted President George Herbert Walker Bush by saying he just couldn't help it, because he was born with a silver foot in his mouth.

Which, you gotta admit, is a pretty good line...

It was even more fun a couple of years later when she was spanked inglorously at the polls by GWHB's even more inarticulate son.

Ah, I do believe there's the lady who gave nukes to North Korea. But where's Lizzie Grubman? A party isn't a party without getting run over by Lizzie.

:-)

"I bet the reason they didn't show up is because they have been told to give their money directly to Hillary... I seem to remember a thread a few days ago, that was about how FAST and how MUCH money that Hillary has "raised" in the last couple of months"

Exactly. Hillary raised $6m in past 3 months. Today's "Hotline" speculated that she may have $50m LEFT OVER after her Senate campaign if she continues at her current rate of fundraising. She can roll that $50m for her presidential bid.
