There has been much speculation about what Tom Tancredo said on the now famous interview last Friday on WFLA-AM in Orlando, Fla.
From what I am reading here on FR, much of that speculation is wrong.
Tancredo was, in fact, suggesting that we consider (not implement, just consider implementing) a strategy similar to the strategy that Reagan used to win the Cold War.
Listen for yourself. HERE
If you think Tancredo is a nut case, and you don't want to change your thinking, move along, this clip isn't for you. Just post your thoughts without listening.
I saw the Tancredo story at the gym today. Thanks Tom, I really appreciate you making us look as nutty as the Democrats. Regardless of what you meant, the MSM and the Liberals are going to run with it. You should find David Duke and form your own party, you a-hole.
LOL!
Thanks, you proved my point.
You guy's are priceless, gotta love ya!
Sits back and watches the TRolls for Jihad cram it to Tom... lol
Thanks for posting, should be interesting.
For some people, there's no need to actually listen to what was said. They knows what they knows, and their minds are made up!
You're right. NormsRevenge was kind enough to post part of the transcript up earlier on another thread.
Those who are intellectually honest will be able to comprehend Tancredo said nothing wrong. The rest are no better than Dems.
Sometimes I wonder why posters don't just hit themself in the face at home, and leave us alone.
Looks like the author of post #2 followed your instructions to the letter.
"I really appreciate you making us look as nutty as the Democrats."
Theres no "us" to it. The open borders crowd is acting like democrats. Throwing the race card out at every opportunity and blindly obeying the party.
Just high enough to be believable, just low enough to be deniable.
Takes a lot of guts to go out and make yourself a target for the whining left by floating trial balloons for the administration.
Who of us has not contemplated this already?
Or you can just label him a nutbag and return to burying your head in the sand. No religious holy war here, nothing to see, pass my xanax.
You got it right in one!
Tom is right on! Thank God for people like Tancredo...people who recognize the evil of Islam and are ready to act to preserve this nation from their hideousness.
Doesn't sound nutty to me.
HOWEVER
The threat and even the follow through on a you-bomb-me / I-bomb-you policy will not discourage the muslim fundies-- they don't care if they die, nor do they care if a million innocent muslims die if it's for their cause.
I doubt also they'd give a rat's ass if a "holy" site was bombed for the same reason. In fact, they'd probably revel in it, wrap themselves in it and proclaim us all the more worthy of death for it.
Here is an excerpt of an earlier thread re:Tancredo statement and clarification.
For what it's worth, I would like to add a comment. Tom Tancredo was on the KOA Mike Rosen program this morning. Jon Caldara was the guest host. Tancredo explained his statements and what he was saying.
Tancredo said bombing Mecca, or any other site, should be an option that has to be considered if a retaliation is due because of some horrendous act against America. He pointed out these types of plans are already on the books and the military is developing contingency plans all the time, and this is one of them.
He realizes the statements in CA are going to make him look bad and will be taken differently than what he intended.
Personally, I have no problem with possible contingency plans for any nation or group that might attack the United States.
actually Tancredo has done a tremendous favor to the open borders crowd.
Anytime someone wants to do somethign about illegal immigration, they will respond, "youre as nutty as Tancredo"
he has hurt the cause of secure borders by being such a nut.
he listens to conspiracy fools who say that the USSR put nukes in US cities and now Al Qaeda controls them.
You cvan judge a person by who the associate with and Tancredo associates with tinfoil crowds
Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, nuke for nuke.
One detonated here is one too many.
hell yeah...might as well do the old General Blackjack Pershing, Moros, gambit and dip our bullets in pigs blood....and execute some Jihadists and bury them with pig intestines......
remember....Islam is NOT the religion of peace

Personally I don't believe the outrage we see here at FR has anything to do with his comments about a retaliatory strike. I saw one poster make a wild claim that Tancredo is a drug dealer a few weeks back.
That said, he should be smart enough to know that anything he says will/would be twisted around and used badly against him.
He is to smart to let himself get trapped like this normally, but he slipped up here, and now all he can do is wait it out.
There won't be any major backlash, and this won't be a big story in the grand scheme of things, chalk it up as a lesson learned on how the media can twist ya, and be more careful next time.
The majority doesn't care.
A discredit Tancredo cabal at FR and afoot in this nation?
I'm shocked, I tell ya, shocked!.. lol
Contemplation yes. Telegraphing a punch no. I think reducing Damascus and Tehran to rubble is first on the table Mecca is not. Unless you project a credible threat there is no way you can run a house to house winning strategy against Islam. They can produce mad bombers faster than you can root them out and mad dirty bomb bombers are in the batter's box. Strategic planning for a response to a dirty bomb is essential unless we want to die of 100 dirty bombs. I hate to admit it but I do think radical Islam is merely the military arm of the world Islamic movement which has always been "a convert by the sword" evangelic religion. The idea that "moderate Islam" actually opposes the work of their military is not born out yet by their actions and activities.
My new tagline says it all.
I don't think Tom really wanted to be President anyway.
Would you? l;-)

Comments made by Rep. Tom Tancredo on Friday during an on-air interview on radio station WFLA in Orlando, Fla. Host Pat Campbell and the congressman were discussing the possibility of future terrorist attacks inside the United States.
I heard that interview too, and that's what prompted this post.
During the Cold War there were scores of people who thought Regean was nuts. During this war there will be scores of people who think Tancredo and similar thinkers are nuts.
Once the viewpoint Tancredo voiced is implemented we will probably have rounded the corner on this was.
I enjoy political correctness as much as the next guy(:D), but at some point you have to defend yourself. Especially if we start losing 500,000 at a time.
Why wait? How many more Americans have to die before we drop the "big un on em.?"
Let us be frank, Tancredo voiced a thought that concerns many of us. If Washington D.C. is obliterated there will be a tidal wave of demands that we take out Makka. Also, let us also be frank about something else, should a Muslim bomb take out Tel Aviv then Makka will be ashes.
Question:
If America is attacked again, this time with nukes, biological/toxin weapons, radiation (dirty) bombs etc, contaminating our cities for years, killing thousands, possibly millions, sending our economy into the dark ages, what would be your suggested response?
I think it would be foolish for any foreign power, or terrorist, to believe that a Muslim terrorist, be it al-qaede or what have you, detonating a nuclear weapon in a US city wouldn't trigger an immediate, earth-shaking response which would have a far-reaching, devastating impact on the Muslim world.
I'm glad Tancredo is made of tougher stuff. If we used your standard as the standard as to when and what we would say, Rush wouldn't be on the air.
Nor Laura Inghram, Hugh Hewitt, Sean Hannity.............the list is endless.
Even President Bush would never step in front of a microphone.
Come on! We're Conservatives, and we are cleaning their clocks! Only one time before in the history of this Republic have people been witness to the death and disappearance of a whole political party. Watch and enjoy their verbal spasms. They are their death throes.
I should have checked. Had I looked I would have realized you're in CO. Sorry.
A lot of people don't want to confront the possibilities but the US simply must be prepared for whatever contingency we need.
Oh yeah, and Tom knows he's considered on the fringe by many people but he's willing to take the heat knowing he's right. I believe he will win reelection as long as he wants to stay in the US House. He has too many constituents who agree with him and are thankful he's making the cases he makes.
And your response to #33 is?
Did you think Regean was nuts for impletementing MAD?
tsk tsk
I would expect better from a former US Marine (Or as some on FR refer to us, "Internet Warriors".
"The price of freedom is eternal vigilance." -Thomas Jefferson
I enjoy Rosen, Caldera was especially on target today too.
Ummm, I don't see anything at all wrong with what Tancredo said. Unless I am missing something, his comments seem perfectly reasonable to me.
Why shouldn't we threaten to annhilate Muslim holy cities if our cities are attacked with WMD's? We are fighting a war against radical Islam, why shouldn't we reserve the right to destroy that which they hold dear in the event our nation is nuked?
Come on now, it isn't as if the Muslim world is lifting a finger to stop these Islamists. The majority of Muslims tolerate and even sympathize with these murderers whom attacked us on Sept 11th. Most Muslims can't even condemn terrorist attacks against the West without adding the predictable "But the West is also at fault because....". Muslims are taught they can't take the side of an infidel over another Muslim, and it obvious that they take this to heart the bulk of the time.
How did we get so weak in the knees and politically correct that speaking the obvious, which is exactly what Tancredo did, is suddenly so controversial? We don't necessarily need the President out saying this stuff since we are nominally allied with lots of Muslim nations, but there is nothing wrong with Congressman Tancredo pointing out that threatening Islamic holy sites is something we might have to consider to prevent a nuclear holocaust from our cities.
Ugh, the public and media reaction to Tancredo's statements remind us all that the West still doesn't understand what we are up against.
Keep them (Muslims) afraid...... very afraid.
mayhap this was a heads up for the super-silent Muslim majority. Perhaps they need to know that their deafening lack of condemnation of the barbarism, coupled with not a whisper of refutation - could make one wonder if they are not simply playing cozy, waiting for what is the Muslim modus operandi - to do their dirty work until they've gained - or bloodied enough ground to allow them to step out into the open. If they aren't with us = then where are they? No room for mugwumping in this war - the wider war, the "kill the infidels war."
I just want the GOP to continue in it's mission of permanent majority party. This rhetoric does nothing to further that goal. With Howard Dean and the other loonies in charge of the Democrats, we have a real opportunity to squish the Dems for generations. We can't have loose cannons like Tancredo blowing it for us.
By George, I think you've got it! :)
heavens no. Let's not let anyone know we have a spine.
Does anyone not remember WHY Bin Laden planned and executed 9-11?
He said it himself. In all the previous bombings, mostly in the Clinton years = NOTHING was done in retaliation. The barbarism and slaughter went unpunished. Bin Laden - believed and so stated - that the deeds of 9-11 would pass on by without any significant backlash as well.
That's how bullies operate - and they don't quit until their nose is bloodied...or they know, without a doubt, that it will be - big time. Bullies are cowards - they only hold the field when no one steps up to the plate.
Then they'd read your posts, laugh, and say, "No. Just kick them in the groin again. They'll blame themselves for getting kicked and beg for more."
