CAIRO (Reuters) - An explosion shook the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh on Saturday, starting a fire and sending a cloud of smoke up over the town, a resident said.
The explosion, audible more than one km (half a mile) away, appeared to take place in a market area which includes shops popular with tourists, said the resident, who asked not to be named.

It's probably a terrorist attack. If I'm not mistaken, lot's of Jewish vacationers stay at that resort.

very scary. However, I am amazed that so many Westerners still vacation in Egypt. You couldn't pay me enough money to set foot in a Muslim country. Why do people take such a risk these days? It's not like there aren't lovely beaches elsewhere in the world.

You couldn't pay me enough money to set foot in a Muslim country. And the fact that muzzies leave 'em in droves ought to tell us something, too.
Don't even want to have a layover in one, although it would be a good occasion to piss on it.

Hugh Hewitt believes there are only a dozen or so fanatical Islamists...
Is that the Hyatt? A lot of Brits go there according to the reviews on the internet...

Tourist and camp sites were attacked before there.
Rmember the French charter plane that crashed into the sea there when Tony Blair was visiting? Ever solved?

Time to put more pressure on Israel. They obviously aren't making enough concessions. /sarcasm

My sentiments exactly. In fact, my younger daughter and I cancelled a trip to Italy -- we are staying right here.

BTW, there were reports of cells of terrs in the Sinai mountains, living out their primitive life-style fantasy, as they did in Afghanistan.

But wait a minute, if only Egypt would pull out of Iraq, these types of things wouldn't happen. [/heavy sarcasm]

Re#9 He is in a bit of denial on the numbers. He does have some good guests and earlier played Donald Trump's testimony to Congress on the UN construction/bid. It was hilarious...

We were in Sharm el Sheik in the 80's. There was a UN peacekeeping force there at the time. Don't know if it is still there.
