Kerry Seeks Release of Roberts' Documents

WASHINGTON (July 23) - Democratic Sen. John Kerry urged the White House on Friday to release "in their entirety" all documents and memos from Supreme Court nominee John Roberts' tenure in two Republican administrations.

"We cannot do our duty if either Judge Roberts or the Bush administration hides elements of his professional record," said the Massachusetts senator who was his party's presidential candidate last year.

Opening what is expected to be a broader attempt by Democrats to pry loose documents, Kerry issued his statement as Roberts made the latest in a series of courtesy calls on senators in advance of confirmation hearings.

Democratic officials also said Friday they want access to all material regarding Roberts at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in California. Roberts served in the White House counsel's office from 1982-1986. He was principal deputy solicitor general in the administration of President George H.W. Bush.

The Reagan Library, in Simi Valley, Calif., holds an unknown number of documents relating to Roberts, arranged by subject matter. While material in some subjects are designated on the library's Web site as available to the public, most is not.

I wonder if we could have all the documents from the meetings with the N. Vietnam officials in France and his 180 while he's at it.

This from a man who has repeatedly promised to sign the 180, yet never does it. Typical demoncrat hypocrisy.

Ali Veritas, you read my mind. Kerry has no moral base to even sit in the same room with Judge Roberts. What a hypocrite!

He's not even on the Judiciary committee! What an arrogant SOB.

Sure Senator, we'll be happy to give you all the paper, if you release just one piece of paper of your own, a COMPLETE SF 180.

"We cannot do our duty if either Judge Roberts or the Bush administration hides elements of his professional record."

Then why restrict yourself to demanding "all documents and memos from Supreme Court nominee John Roberts' tenure in two Republican administrations?" Why not demand records of all of Roberts' professional conduct in private practice while you're at it?

I heard something about Kerry releasing a form recently, but don't think that it was Form 180. I believe it was his grades from Yale.

Apparently, he didn't want his cumulative released during the election. His grades were lower than Bush's.

Will the Form 180 ever be released? Is it made public upon Kerry's death. I'd like to know what's in his record.

I think the did sign one, but it was only for his buddies at the New York Times, the AP, and his favorite Boston paper. Kerry made sure only friendly faces saw his files, and all that was made public from that was his school records. The public will never see the real meat of Kerry's records, but that won't stop Kerry from being a hypocrit.

The timing of Kerry's request shows why he will never be on the par with the Clintons politically.

Bill and Hillary know that Friday nights are not when people pay attention to the news, which is why they would always dump embarassing news at that time of the week.

So what does Kerry do?

He saves his biggest shot across the bow for a Friday night, when nobody is paying attention.

Probably because he couldn't understand an example of good conduct that is staring him in the face.

Kerry did sign the form, but his records were parsed and it was a limited release to only his closest friends in the media. And from that, all they revealed was a token about his grades. It was a crook to coverup so Kerry can say he did release his records.

Mr. Flower Power is probably interested to see if Judge John Roberts is a windsurfer and snowboarder and could only be acceptable if found to be that...

"We cannot do our duty if either Judge Roberts or the Bush administration hides elements of his professional record," said the Massachusetts senator who was his party's presidential candidate last year.

The supreme irony is that Kerry would, for once, be actually doing his duty. Even if it is his duty to the MoreOn.org crowd.

But Senator Kerry, Judge Roberts has already released all these documents. You can go by anytime and see them.

Kerry is just a glorified back-bencher. Roberts is a top-shelf, A number 1 prime nominee.

They could release virtually all of Roberts material and he would still pass muster with flying colors. This is just the beginning of the battle the dems plan to wage against him, so they can claim they have to block this nominee because the White House won't release records.

It's all just the BS game they plan to play. They're so predictably stupid, and it's wearing very thin on the American electorate. But hey, that's fine, never stand in the way when your opponents are destroying themselves, right?
