What do you mean what's my point? Face it the police made a mistake and that's it PERIOD! NYPD cops make mistakes, LAPD cops make mistakes. That was exactly what it was a Mistake.

Just because the guy was a Brazilian doesn't mean he's innocent. If he came out of a house that was under surveillance, if he ran when the police told him to stop, if he jumped the turnstile, he was running for a reason. And why was he waring a thick jacket on a hot day?

Guys who break laws run from the cops all the time but expect to be arrested if they're caught, not summarily executed. Except maybe in South America. They have roving cop squads down there that shoot anyone they dont like.

It was reasonable under the circumstances to view him as a bomber, if he wears a heavy coat in the summer and runs from police.

The temperature was in the low 60s, apparently. Is it a crime to wear a jacket on a cool morning? Especially when you are from a country where it is hot?

To be honest. I can't answer that. Hopefully all those questions will be answered.

I just wonder if the Brazilians will be outraged or embarrassed...
I am more interested in this clown's religion than his nationality.
What's the muslim population of Brazil?

He wasn't an innocent bystander. He was fleeing from police who ordered him to stop. I can't believe the police didn't identify themselves to him.

This is similar to the Diallo killing here in NYC, where an (illegal) African immigrant ran from cops, refused to stop, refused to id himself,
$$$$$
You might want to know that Diallo was at the front door of his own apartment building. He reached for his wallet to show the police, and one of them thought he was showing a weapon. The rest you know.
Not exactly the same as running from anyone in a subway system that had been attacked only a fortnight previously.

Also the Diallo shooting was at night wasn't it where it was hard for the cops to see?

Really? Even in downtown London a day after terror attacks, when the police announce they are looking for loose terroists? What would you say if the guy blew himself up before they shot him? Perhaps a false ID, but not incorrect actions. In fact they were heroic. Unless you want to tell the next actual suicide bomber we won't try to stop you, we'll just try to get you to freeze and lay down. Think that will work? This war is ugly and the citizens themselves have to assist, not do stupid things and then blame the guys on the front lines for the fallout.

Brazillian origin does not exclude Arab heritage. I had a Brazillian exchange student whose grand father immigrated to Sao Paulo from Jeddah.

I can't believe the police didn't identify themselves to him.Do British police speak Portuguese? Just askin'. Badge flashing is kinda hard to do when you're chasing a guy down.
BTW, I understand where the police stand. Mistakes happen & "better safe than sorry" may apply here.
To: D.P.Roberts
Police officers don't excute people for running.Alas, under normal circumstances, no; although I have no problem with such a policy. The perp gets to decide.
In extraordinary circumstances, all bets are off.

This is probably a tragic case of a couple of unfortunate coincidences resulted in an innocent death. That's war, sh!t happens. Nothing is going to change that rule, war is not an exact science.
