Senator says it is his turn 'to collect' on an election-night promise
SAINT-ETIENNE, France Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) watched Lance Armstrong win Saturday's 20th stage and says he's at the Tour to collect on a promise of a ride with the six-time winner.
Kerry said the promise was made election night, when Armstrong and girlfriend Sheryl Crow were in Boston to support the Democratic presidential candidate.
"I'm going to collect on my ride with Lance," Kerry joked. "Lance came to Boston on the night of my election. Lance and I promised each other a ride during the campaign, and I'm here to collect."
Kerry, 61, is an avid cyclist who said he rides three times a week and got the cycling bug during his childhood when his father worked at the U.S. embassy in France.
Kerry flew to France on Friday evening and will return to Washington on Monday. He said it was the first time he's traveled without bodyguards since before his presidential campaign two years ago.
"I think it's phenomenal," Kerry said of Armstrong's Tour dominance. "It's a huge sporting accomplishment. When you look at his personal story, to the quality of races, one of the great sport accomplishments of all time."
When asked if Armstrong has a future in politics, Kerry said yes, with a caveat: "It would be great, as long as he joins the right party."

Elected to what?
The following article is a little clearer:

KERRY QUOTE: "``What's made him [Lance] so special at the Tour de France, and as an athlete, is the level of focus, discipline, intelligence, strategic ability, and obviously, his endurance - his ability to just take it on and go,'' Kerry said.
Those qualities would serve Armstrong well in politics, Kerry said. But Armstrong is also friendly with fellow Texan President Bush.
``I think he'd be awesome, he'd be a force. I just hope it's for the right party,'' said Kerry, an avid cyclist and longtime fan of the Tour de France.
Kerry said he had tapes of last year's Tour delivered during his presidential campaign last year. "
Isn't this sooooooooooooooooo Kerry! He just can't stop talking about his presidential campaign, and how rude! Trying to grab some of the limelight away from Armstrong's moment of triumpth. You can bet Kerry would not have been there if Armstrong lost.
She's a skank, camera filters, professional stylists, dressmakers, and make-up artists not withstanding.
Lance Armstrong's mother in Austin was interviewed on TV news a few days ago - ahe's a very nice-looking woman, but obviously starstruck by Crow.
bleeeah
*LOL* Your Franch Dressing picture is PERFECT
Cheryl Crow's horrible dress with the bite mark out of the middle makes her a perfect candidate for Franch Kerry's next mate. I'm sure he has no objection to her wearing Lance Armstrong yellow.
Even Lance with his 30 BPM heart rate and massive lungs does not have enough blood to think with two heads at once.
Brilliant! Sweet justice for Gigolos Kerry and Lancey Boy.
So any bets on how long it takes Hillie to manage a photo op with him?
...'Kerry's an avid cyclist'. I bet we'll find that he won the Tour de France back in the seventies
About the same time you find his time for the Boston marathon he claims to have run.
'Sheryl has been ridden more than Lance's bike.'
BWAHAHAHAHA!
Well, I HAD been cheering for Lance.
don't forget he ran the Boston marathon...but he can't remember what year, and the marathon has no record of him...
