Vandals are compounding the grief of a Tri-state soldier's family.

Not even 24-hours after Private First Class Tim Hines's wife and family said goodbye at his funeral, American flags that had adorned their Fairfield yard were piled beneath a car and burned....

Problem is, doc - you don't mind if I call you doc - first reactions have a habit of becoming a false fact if not called on.

But what the hell would I know seeing as I work in the most heavily regulated industry in the U.S. that requires a degree of precision that far exceeds most other professions.

Is there a mosque in the neighborhood? Just asking.

Yes, about five miles away. There isn't a great concentration of Islamic adherents nearby, though. Most of them are down closer to UC. My guess is that the mosque is where it is because that's where the developable land was 5-10 years ago when they built it.

Yes you can rightly call me Doc.

I am saying to you that even if it was teenagers it makes little difference.

I was also commenting about you admonishing FReepers Replies to certain posts as knee jerk.

However, I remember the knee jerk reactions after nine eleven CONDEMING the terrorists and their supporters.

Something like 89% felt that way.

Just recently that knee jerk reaction was down to about 47%.

Many have forgotten how they really felt.

It is no longer politically correct to even show the photos of those terrorist savages murdering 3,000 innocent civilians.

Today, I heard a left wing Brit say that if the secret police didn't have guns that an innocent Brazilian would not have been shot in the subway. He called it a knee jerk reaction due to the bombings.

However, the British press seems to conveniently forget that this fellow was seen leaving from the home of one of the suspected bombers.

He also comes from a country that is in a way supporting terrorism.

They also forget that this fellow failed to heed warnings to stop.

Also why was he wearing a very heavily padded jacket in summer.

Well any way knee jerks are not always wrong.

However, the politically correct press is often wrong. REPLY: Well I do know a little about precision. I really don't want to fight with you. Just sort of hit me wrong about the comment on knee jerk comments by FReepers.

The American Legion will stand with the Boy Scouts all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary. The ACLU has successfully used the courts to tear down a cross that was intended as a soldiers' monument in California. Moreover, the ACLU is soaking taxpayers with its legal fees. The city of San Diego recently paid $940,000 in ACLU legal fees after the organization
chased the Boy Scouts out of Balboa Park. Nationally, taxpayers fork over millions to ACLU attorneys. To stop this greed, Congress must amend 42 U.S. Code, Section 1988 of the Civil Rights Act, which is being exploited by these radical lawyers.

AMERICAN LEGION CONVENTION FIGHTS TO SUPPORT TROOPS, VETS RIGHTS, AND PRESERVE CROSS IN THE DESERT HONORING WWI VETS

And one more, ON TOPIC. The matter of burning the American flag.

http://americanflagblog.flagstuff.com/blog/2005/07/burning_america_3.html

In one of it's more misguided adventures in legislation, the Supreme court ruled that the First Amendment right of free speech would forevermore also apply to the felony of arson - specifically, the burning of American flags.

Once the police find who did it, the press needs to publish the names, addresses, and phone numbers for all to see.

I'm sure that the perpetrators would then quickly learn the error of their ways.

In certain parts of the country where the swamps are dark and the rivers are deep the people who did this, whether vandals or political protestors, would be hunted down like dogs, and then never heard from again.

On a brighter note, I see that a general officer personally presented the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star Medal to the family at the funeral. I recall that when a relative of mine was killed in Vietnam, his immediate family received the awards in the mail.

Why all the effort in apologetics for someone that just attacked a widow the day after her husbands funeral. It is one thing to do pranks, but that frankly hurt that woman beyond measure.

Besides, at 5:30 am, drunk is very unlikely. That is was locals is also very unlikely as it is a conservative area, and people tend not to attack their neighbors when they are down. This is obviously terrorism, as the goal of terrorism is to demoralize the enemy.

You people better get your act together, and band together because if you do not, you are going to loose this war and be slaughtered like a flock of sheeple.

Killing all infidels means you...

This is most likely within 5 miles or so of me. I live on the northern tip of Hamilton county, and Butler county is only a couple of miles from me. It is WAY more conservative than hamilton county, Where the taxes keep on going up, to pay for things like the stadiums for our Bungals and Deads, and the "freedom center", and other such boondoggles.

Now, some are saying, "you have not been a teenager lately, have you"? No, I will be 38 in a couple of months. BUT-- when I was a teen, the WORST thing I ever did,was drive a friend around , while he tossed eggs and pop bottles(remember those, GLASS bottles?), at road signs and a few mailboxes. NEVER did I cause any vandalism, or anything like this. I knew better, from the beginning. Sure, I tossed a few light bulbs in the creek, and such, and shot fireworks out of my car, a few times(THAT was a BIG mistake, one caught the wind, fell on the bag of bottle rockets, and about 6 of them started shooting off, in all directions, I had to get out of the car, and run!!),But never, thought to set a fire, on someone else's property, or under their car.Possibly, 'cause I never used drugs or alcohol, I stayed out of trouble, but I doubt that even if I had, I would had ever thought of something like this.

I think this is a result of undisciplined, unthankful kids, or young adults. And, I think, that they should be given a choice:: 3 years in prison, OR 6mths. boot camp, (WITH a tour, of Iraq, for a few weeks ), and then, the rest of the summer, working to keep cemeteries and parks clean, and free of this kind of thing.

Off of I-75, is a BIG Islamic temple. When 9-11 occurred, there was a Cop ,sitting in the median, 24/7, across from that place,AND police cars, in the parking lot, for at LEAST a month(I suspect, to prevent "hostilities" toward the Muslims there).

This is about 10 miles from me,probably 5-7 miles from Fairfield, and about 2 miles from the Tylersville exit, so it is most likely in Butler county, and considered part of West Chester.

The [ep[;e responsible for this are traitors and should be dealt with most harshly.

But the laws in this Country reflect the opinions of a select liberla elite, not the intent of the Founding Fathers, popular opinion or common sense.

FAIRFIELD, Ohio -- Less than 24 hours after a Tri-state soldier was buried, someone pulled up 20 American flags from his father-in-law's front yard and set fire to them under a car in the driveway, News 5 reported.

The family of Pfc. Timothy Hines and neighbors can't understand why someone would do that.

"If it wasn't random vandalism, what statement were they trying to make?" said Jim Wessels, Hines' father-in-law.

The car, belonging to Wessel's daughter, was burned beyond repair.

Members of a local church stepped in and helped clean up, and 200 flags donated by family, friends and neighbors were put up around the yard.

"I was in the military also," Don Hodges told News 5. "I understand some of what he had to go through before he was killed. And I appreciate all that the veterans done for the country."

Police are keeping a close eye on the neighborhood and vowed to find the vandals.

"What has happened to this family is a tragedy; what occurred this morning is despicable," said Fairfield police Chief Mike Dickey. "We will take every step to identify the persons responsible and hold them accountable."

If you have any information, call CrimeStoppers at (513) 352-3040.

Hines, 21, of Fairfield, died last week of injuries from a bomb explosion in Baghdad in June.

More than 400 family members and friends gathered for his funeral Friday. They watched a slide-show of his life from childhood to high school to his wedding.

Hines met his wife, Katy, at Cincinnati Christian School. They had a 2-year-old daughter, Lily, and Katy expects to give birth to their second child in about two weeks.

An anonymous donor gave Cincinnati Christian $130,000 to cover tuition for Hines' children.

"Tim was a fighter. He fought hard for his country, family and ultimately, his life. He was a loyal husband and father and an incredible American," a tearful Katy Hines said at the funeral. "There is a price for freedom and Tim paid the ultimate price. Now he is in the loving arms of God."

Hines was the gunner on a Humvee in a convoy when a bomb detonated on a highway on Father's Day. He suffered kidney and tissue damage and internal bleeding, and his right leg was amputated in a Baghdad hospital. He was having emergency surgery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., when he died.

Army Brig. Gen. Patrick O'Reilly presented Hines' mother a Purple Heart, a Bronze Star and the Good Conduct Medal. Family members also received a visit from President Bush at the medical center earlier this month.

Hines was buried at Spring Grove Cemetery with full military honors.

I don't believe this was "random vandalism". I have been to enough freeps/protest warrior actions of the anti-war crowd to know their tactics when I see them. I've seen them drag the American Flag through the mud to kick off an anti war rally, and watched them stomp little American Flags into the dirt.

We know who is responsible for this..
