Why Did So Many People Hate Bill Clinton? An Exchange Among Conservatives
History News Network ^ | July 25, 2005 | By David Horowitz, Paul Gottfried, Larry Schweikart and Gene Kizer

In a recent essay in the NYT Book Review of John F. Harris's The Survivor: Bill Clinton in the White House, Alan Ehrenhalt speculated about the reasons Clinton was so disliked. This sparked a rigorous debate on Richard Jensen's list, ConservativeNet. Below, a sampling of opinion.

Alan Ehrenhalt's Review

Millions of Americans despise Bill Clinton. They have done so since he became a presence in national politics in the early 1990's, and they continue to do so today, more than four years after his retirement from public office.

"I hate his stinkin putrid guts! And as for his fat, ugly Commie wife I'd like to lijzxcfd gwretekj@#$^*(%^ her !!!"

Ditto, and for all the reasons mentioned in this thread, he and his witch have done grave damage to this country and continue to do so. But for me it's hate rather than detest because I believe Clinton's destructive actions and inactions were entirely based on his own selfish beliefs and desires on a very conscience level and not because he was simply misled, had bad ideas or just couldn't make good decisions. He and his wife are immoral cunning opportunists that don't give a real rat's ass about you and me.

You said:

"All evil should be hated."

To pretend that evil should not be hated is one of the reasons liberals are the way they are. Then they wind up hating the good.

Doesn't mean we have to hate the actual "soul" of the person acting hatefully. But we can - and have a duty - to loathe and abhor the crass selfishness, nay - self idolatry - that is the source of all the cruel, shameless, lustful, and power-mad actions both the Clintons perpetrated while in the White House and will continue to engage in whenever they get a chance.

If anything, she's worse than he is, but he is more duplicitous - he's better at the fake smile. Like on onion - layer after layer of self serving deceit.

Bill Clinton made tough decisions all right. For example, all that nuke technology to China, and that nuclear enabling of North Korea. Or when he was governor, his re-enacting of the prison blood program. Ice water ran through those veins, and cocain was up his nose.

Being president, to him, was just a tool to get fame and fortune. It was never about the welfare of the nation, a 24/7 job.

Bingo. His tenure was a poll-driven disaster, unlike Bush, who, it appears, pays very little attention to polls.

What dream world does he live in? My God, the hatred spewed out at Bush creates enough energy to keep the Earth spinning for eternity.

It is amazing, isn't it? And it is a lesson learned, not to let one's opinion that a person's politics or behavior are despicable morph into a personal hatred that can't reason through the hate. The extreme Left tells us that George Bush and Dick Cheney are evil, and they interpret every event to reinforce that opinion. They can no longer reason about it, and therefore become very ineffectual.

Even so, watching the Clintons simper and posture in front of the cameras makes me queasy. I have a hard time looking at those two through neutral eyes.

In its persistence and intensity, it goes far beyond anything that comparable numbers of people have felt about Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan or either of the presidents Bush.

I disagree. I think the current Bush-haters out-do anything conservatives ever felt about Clinton.

Millions of Americans despise Bill Clinton. ...

Because he is a traitor and that is hard to overcome. The slimeball did get by with some of the sheep out there, but not all of us.

He snuck away from Oxford, and his handlers there, and was escorted by other handlers through Europe, into Oslo, and on to Moscow. His indoctrination there can only be left to the files of the KGB.

Their candidate became elected. They would have won except for one small fact: Ronnie Reagan beat them first. The traitor xlinton was left without soviet handlers, only the homegrown type. These scum who helped xlinton in his power are part of the 'homegrown type'. They desire power for themselves and they wish the ultimate power of communist control over the people.

Everything the scumbag did after his indoctrination behind enemy lines while my brothers were dying is tainted, as is everyone who had anything to do with the scumbag, as did every accomplishment of the scumbag, and most unfortunately, as we all did as a nation. Why won't he address the issue about these forty days and why hasn't someone written a book?

Too bad; given his abilities he could have been more than mediocre.....IMHO

The thoroughly evil and anti-moral Clintons never remotely approached positive mediocracy! In fact, they never even crossed zero into the positive realm of moral leadership.

Here's a test for you: ask the people of Arkansas who lived under Clinton's governorship what they think of Clinton...

As my host in Benton , AR once said,

"You folks who get your information on the Clintons from the MSM simply can't comprehend the evil we folks here in AR have had to live with. For example, right over yonder are some railroad tracks..."

we are going to hear a lot more about "Clinton-hating" in the MSM in order to . . . rationalize [their patronizing of] opposition to the H Beast).
Which is a major downside to the Klein book . . .

Clinton was proof that Watergate was a scam to remove a republican that had outed a commie from office. All charges of abuse of power were either never completed (IRS audits on political enemies), or so commonplace under Clinton and his liberal predecessors that the charges were not even worth pursuit.

During Clinton's tenure - especially before he had better control of certain media organs - there were break-ins, witness intimidation, and other sporting activities under the general title of Obstruction of Justice. But those were domestic affairs.

Clinton, through the good works of his wife, Bruno, established a capable database that J. Edgar would have admired. It was totally illegal, run by one of their mafia bar bouncers, and never pursued seriously by the media. Classic Clinton. It revealed just how bad the media had become, and ended up filling the void in truthful reporting with competition from talk radio.

In foreign affairs Clinton's duplicity was unmatched, and too extensive to note here, other than to say, Red China targeting; North Korean nuclear capability; and ignoring Bin laden. At its height, a worthy picture of this height of treason is Madam Albright, in all her flatulence, grasping the arm of Worshipful Leader in dance.

Occasionally, if one was attentive, they would get a peek behind the Clinton curtian. There they would see the Purple Rage, and the working of a spoiled child that needed constant watching. And behind the same curtian were revealed other not-so-pretty details. Dead girlfriends and their boyfriends. Strange happenings to friends and associates no longer useful. Willfull destruction of personal reputations with the full help of the media. In fact, Free Republic was the follow-on to the original curtain watcher, the Whitewater discussion group.

If the Clintons are anything, however, it is a study in how people of low or no character can capture the levers of power in and outside government, and abuse things to the point where our nation is today at great risk. Just imagine how a president Hillary could abuse the Patriot Act.

We must not forget that the power behind the Bill Clinton presidency was not Slick Willie, but was instead the evil witch Hitlery. Take a look at his political appointees: Donna Shalala, Janet Reno, Bill Lan Lee, Jamie Gorelick, Carol Browner, etc.--all friends of Hitlery. The Branch Davidian standoff and subsequent immolation of eighty-some men, women and children was orchestrated by Hitlery and Janet Reno in an attempt to convince the American people that the country was threatened by a "vast right wing conspiracy". Yes, indeed, Hitlery was a threat then and is today as she attempts to cloak herself with the "mainstream" mantle.
