Oh! I thought you were one of those folks who thought nobody needed guns--LOL!

No, I'm one of those people who thinks no one should have a gun unless they -know how to use it, - know when to use it, and - are willing to use it. I also have contempt for all .25s and .22 revolvers.

Skeet shooting is great fun and good practice too.

I was in hog heaven. The school payed for all the shells and all the clay birds I wanted. I never did get to where I could consistently hit 25 straight, mainly because I used the class to try out a lot of guns rather than sticking to my Beretta Skeet Gun.

I did get to where I was averaging maybe 23-24. I had one student who could beat me. He was the state champion. I think he said he hit 498 out of 500.

24 out of 25 sounds like good shooting to me. Skeet looks like fun. I imagine that hitting your stride, getting into a rhythm, is what drives your score up.

I can't believe any knowledgeable shooter would be contemptious of the .22 revolver.

If I could only have one gun it just might be a Smith & Wesson model 17. Of course I would also be tempted to make it a Kimber bolt action .22.

If one lives out in the country there is nothing as useful as a .22 either rifle or pistol.

I had a bit of a mental quirk. If you get through the first 24 without a miss, you can take the 25th from any station. Typically that would be from station 8 at the lowhouse. It is considered the easiest shot.

I bet I went 24 straight a dozen times only to miss the 25th and easiest shot.

Yeah, I know that quirk. It's irritating.

I have nothing against .22 rifles. The .22 autos have limited appropriate uses. As for the .22 revolver, no thanks.

No one needs a .22 revolver around the house.

Why not, may I ask?

Inadequate for home/personal protection.

Ask farmers and ranchers for their opinion on the killing capability of a .22 handgun.

I think you have been reading the wrong books because my personal experience has taught me that a 2000 lb bovine, a 1200 horse and a 30 lb coyotes will drop dead with one shot from a .22. Accuracy is required as with all weapons. A shot to the lower leg with a .44 is not as effective as a brain shot from a .22.
