Foreign Language Driver’s Tests Threaten Public Safety

Most American motorists – at least those who speak English – are unaware that their safety on American roads and highways is being sacrificed for the sake of accommodating an ever-rising tide of illegal immigration.

especially not being able to read a vehicles owners manual telling you that particular vehicles passenger capacity.

I looked in total disbelief just the other day as a chevy s-10 pickup pulled in next to me at my corner convenience store and 8 mexicans piled out. It totally reminded me of all the clowns getting out of a VW at a circus.

But what is common sense to most people is not to many state officials charged with the duty of protecting public safety. In state after state they are caving into pressure from “immigrants rights” groups to make driver’s license exams and manuals available not only in Spanish but in many other foreign languages. The predictable result -- growing carnage on our roads and highways:

It really doesn't matter as now under new trade agreements foreign trucks are allowed on U.S. highways. They don't even need a license from the States. Just use their mexican licenses and that's enough.

I don't know about the excuse of illegal immigration. Surely it is a problem, but the real problem is the left pandering to foreigners who refuse to learn the language who live here legally. Nothing in this country should be printed in any foreign language as a matter of law. English is an acceptable universal language throughout most of the world except here.

This is the UNITED STATES we speak ENGLISH here and we shouldn't have to molly coddle any one, if they can't read the test in english they shouldn't get a licence, and it's for damned sure they shouldn't give one to an illegal period.

Yes, but the massive influx of illegals has created a situation in which millions of people don't feel it is necessary to learn English.

I meant road signs, instructions not to piss on your hands in washrooms or drivers tests. None of my family expects to read anything in this country in their native Italian. They actually went out of their way to learn the English language. They wanted to be Americans unlike so many others who arrive now who want the benefits without actually being one of us.

But really to hear some here talk, it sounds like we as English only speaking adults should be banned from driving cars when we are in a foreign country.

When you are in traffic, and 99% of the people are driving at a good, safe pace, but right in the middle of it all is some broken down, beat up, second hand 1991 Toyota Carolla with a bunch of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Mi Pais, Mi Nicargua stickers just chugging along, belching smoke, and the car is slowing down all other the traffic dangerously, swerving from lane to lane, with three people in the front and five in the back all yakkin' away with the nortena musica blaring, you tell me if illegal immigration is not a problem in the country. I've seen more and more and more and more of these types of cars and drivers on the highways, ignoring all manner of common sense and American traffic laws. Wonderful. Divvvvvvvvvversity. My first thought is, how in the hell can these people be granted drivers licenses. Then I recall the idiocy and mental sickness that is LIBERALISM and I end up answering my own question...

We are very aware of it here in Tennessee. Despite a law that REQUIRES that the driver's license be given in English, they just ignore it and hire translators to give the test orally.
